Seems over the last few months that anything is possible, but does anyone know if they are eliminating nursing staff from Optum? I’ve already updated my resume and started looking elsewhere but it’s terrible that they can’t be more honest so we can go out on our own terms rather than being blindsided!

I was laid off from Optum and I’m an NP. Care management in nursing homes for many years. Got one month notice and then see ya! Since the day Evercare was rebranded as Optum at the time Obamacare began (no coincidence), the care management program went to total sh–. They now run a skeleton crew utilizing a handful of NPs and RN “care managers” to run the nursing home Medicare ISP. Membership and care quality has gone down (here, anyway).
Just remember, when a door closes, somewhere God opens a window! There is light at the end of this tunnel too.
Several of my nurse friends were laid off, and I am sure I’m on the chopping block, as well (also a nurse). Seniority does not count anymore, nor does productivity, it seems just location and salary. The more money they can save, the better for their top shareholders. Nurses seem to no longer get moved to other departments but rather chopped altogether.
Holy sh–e
Nurses and nurse practitioners are not laid off related to seniority. This organization is corrupt from the top down. Handwriting is clear, They profess their mission statement of integrity and compassion and they do not practice whay they preach. Having to wear smart watches so that they can track you is ridiculous. They are not innovative either as the equipmant that they have the nurses and nurse practitioners use in the field are subpar and not effective tools as they do not work properly. Rebooting the equipment is ongoing. They send out refurbished computers and laptops and call them tablets. I am pleased to say that I am not working for such corrupt individuals any more. I saw the handwriting last year and made other arrangements. Good luck to the rest of you. May you have some peace of mind soon.
Does anyone really trust US corporations? Especially these with there track records? Does the verbiage match the actions??
Their verbiage to me did not mean no more layoffs- just no more until the end of 2019 and then in 2020 who knows....
davita, optum, healthcare partner, all laid folks left and right without notice. Good luck
After the November layoffs we were told that would be it for clinical. Sadly I don’t believe a word they say and am just waiting for more to come.
Many nurses, and other health providers were laid off without any notice.
I have seen nurses and nurse practitioners get laid off from Optum. Always hush hush about numbers. I’m sure summit was cancelled so that they could limit the conversation between states- comparing numbers etc. Layoffs have been based on seniority but also where people lived and what buildings are around them. They had a scheduled call in a December that essentially said layoffs even in the clinical setting should not be shocking (writing on the wall). All based on market demands, contracts, efficiency, etc. I think this may be one of the least stable places for a clinical person to be employed. If you don’t like it then should definitely consider finding another job!
I’m a nurse and got the chop. Nobody is safe.
I heard clinicians will be chopped this next time. Not sure how reliable my info is tho
I was told along time ago. Nurses will always have a job at UHG. I have seen two departments eliminated and the nurses on those teams were moved to another department.
