Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

What are the ratios?

A lot of comments about manger to direct report ratios. Does anyone know what the targeted ratios are for service managers, sales managers, sales vp, etc?

I think it’s up in the air at this point.
There was once a ratio they followed but I’m no longer convinced they do that as a rule anymore
I know of management in Service with 30 people that was laid off so it seems they are using other criteria to make decisions as well. Pretty much nothing is safe
I’d say keep your head down and just hope for the best no matter what team you’re on.
It’s just cut, cut, cut!!

The ratios thing is so dumb! If that's all they're looking at, it's a stupid way to manage a company. So, if you have eight direct reports, you're fine, but if you have seven, bye? What's the logic behind that?

8:1 is what I was told in August 2018 - one of the reasons I was told I was let go, because I had less than 8 direct reports.

8:1 or 10:1 for sales managers depending on how rural your area is
Veep's will be geographical, maybe 10 in the country
Production will be geographical, maybe 10 in the country
