Floor leads title will be changing to area mgr but they still punch the clock. ( You didn’t think that 18 an hour was coming at no cost did you ). They already have keys and they now will be allowed to be in the clubs by themselves anytime instead of just one hour. There will no longer be 2 merchandising mgr that is going to 1 Clubs now will operate with 1-CM. 1- MERCH. 1-Frontend. 2-Fresh. and 4 area mgrs. vacations are now covered. Area mgrs open club at 4 am and will be closing mgr. merch mgr will be 9-7 allowing the mgr to see both am and pm crews.

If you have any kind of a coaching your fired. Unfortunately this is how they will cut the first set of managers, next evaluation. With out a doubt every club will loose 2-3 managers. Don’t worry you can come back in probably 9 months around the holidays. The clubs will be in such chaos with hourly leads. Most I do say most are not vested as a salary manager. Most if not all will clock out and go home on time. There’s no way that a club can operate with 4 managers. I do however believe those remaining will look fo new employment.

If anything is going down with salaried mgrs it will be in the next 1-3 weeks. They want to ensure they get year ending bonuses/numbers in. However, they also like to use annual evaluations to give fraud evals just before terminations or laying off. I heard from my CM that's what they did that last year. So many times I was told don't waste your time as a salaried manager at Sam's. They have not a care in the world about us "little" people. I continue to see that fact more & more every year.

Changes won't take place over a weekend. They like to pick Tuesdays.

For everyone complaining about Fresh Leads not doing anything outside of their departments...

The way they re-organized the "roles" in the club was to prevent the need for a Meat Lead to cover a MSL break on the front.

Member Service / Merchandise Team / Specialty / Fresh

Member Service, being comprised of the entire front end (including click and pull, who are supposed to be pushing carts and dispensing orders) are to cover all Front End related activities/breaks/coverage.

Specialty are pretty much left alone.

Merchandise team are supposed to cover all assets of the floor (minus Specialty and Fresh areas) as well as pull the click and pull orders.

Fresh team is to cover all of Fresh - meaning if Freezer/Cooler calls out, the other Fresh areas are supposed to be trained and able to cover the area. A produce associate should be able to pull donations in Bakery. Everyone should be able to package meat for the cutter. Etc.

Your Fresh associates aren't supposed to be pushing carts, being a runner on the front, covering door breaks, etc. Just as the cashiers shouldn't be folding clothes or zoning HBA.

TLDR - another program created by a home office team that spends zero time in the clubs aside from their highly announced and scheduled visit where "everything runs so smoothly gosh".

The time is nearing the end for some assistants. The people they’ve set to replace us with we shall see. With less and less salary managers, could be time to vote for union. The few good ones they do have they will burn out. The ones who have never had any ambition but took the position, hopefully will now be forced to earn your money and have to close.

In my club all the fresh leads with the exception of the prepared foods lead close and work weekends. Our prepared foods lead is a worthless oxygen thief. She never closes and works one Saturday a month sometimes. She hides in Cafe and makes pizza's.

I’ll give it 6 months and they’ll be begging for people to step into these assistant managers positions again.

In our club the Merch leads have way more responsibility than any of the fresh leads. Even though it's not the merch leads area they are usually helping out the front end and out in carts when asked. There could be five people standing around meat dept but none will help. As a MSL I know I can count on the merch leads to assist meanwhile it is a huge pain to get a fresh lead to even respond to a call let alone come out to assist. Hell they don't even respond most of the time to calls for their department, usually a merch lead will answer or go get them.
In my honest opinion they should keep both the fresh managers and release a few of the fresh leads.

Though I will say our various GM's and managers over the years have all let it happen, so of course the leads/associates are going to take advantage of it.

Not sure what club they work in where the fresh leads never close. The program is 1-2 nights per week rotating and it has atleast 1 closing every night. If there not closing then your club doesn’t follow the company program.

$100 million + clubs, 5 asst. managers. Fresh 1 gets displaced.
Less than $100 million, 4 asst. managers. Fresh 1 & Front end specialty displaced.

In response to an earlier reply on this ...someone mentioned that the fresh team leaders never help outside of their department. Here in my club, my fresh meat team lead is NEVER near the meat department.

Yes that’s correct fresh leads got huge pay increases. They also got rotating schedules and none of them close No even one damn night. The fresh leads never come out of their departments to even help elsewhere.

Not all Merchandise Team leads got a pay increase for the extra responsibility. Nor do they all want it. If we had wanted managers responsibilities that is were we would be.
On top of that most fresh leads got big increases and no extra responsibilities.

I seen that Walmart gonna boost their employees to 12 dollars but I didn't see anything about Sam's. Has anyone heard anything about a raise for Sam's employees

If they were to eliminate 1 or 2 managers they would do it under a restructuring process where either all managers would have to reapply or eliminate the lowest performing managers and just assign you to a new position. I have seen it all and have been through this 4 times over the years. The company increased the team lead pay to add more work on them but they can’t handle it and are not strong enough to deal with member issues much less run there teams efficiently.

Restructuring may not be complete until April but cuts will be made before then.

I think there will be some restructuring that occurs but I don't see it happening until April.

For whatever reason, end Q1 seems to be the new favorable time to make big decisions in Sam's Club.

It could be any of us, it’s up to you to stay or leave. If your young get your education and get out. Don’t thinks this is your future, back 20 years ago absolutely. This new structure of a different CEO every other year is crazy. Take it from someone who gave 30 plus years and all I’ve ever known, it’s not easy for a 55 to start over. To have to go thru a company restructuring every February. If your smart don’t think of long term.
