They let you go with severance pay but the gip you out of 5 weeks vacation pay and 40 hrs of sick time

Yes. They changed to a current year vesting in time off years and years ago as part of an earlier cost savings effort. Like everything, it was yet another loophole.
Well, in these cases, there’s no calculations needed with a cut date in February, unless you are in a state that calculates by week instead of by the month. GOB stores will need to be careful their calculations are correct.
Be careful with the PTO. I left Macy's at the end of November and they messed up my PTO calculation. I ended up being shorted about $400. They say it's all a calculation in the system, but what the system said I had earned was incorrect.
No it doesn’t. The vacation is NOT what you earned last year. It’s what you are eligible to earn THIS year. You have to work the whole year to have earned that amount. If you are employed you can take the vacation ahead of earning it but if you leave before earning it all then they will deduct it back from you. Read the note on MTO in Insite.
