Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

It's all about dollars & logistics in the end

Mondelez has been quietly closing sites in its DSD delivery model for years. I worked at a high volume, very efficient nabisco branch outside of the biggest city in WI for years until they shut it down in 2017. We were not the first closure or the last either. We out performed the nearest branch annually. Its all about dollars & logistics in the end and they will say whatever it takes to keep you working there because they do need you to work until the end of the closure... then they dont. Meanwhile the upper echelon can keep collecting their bonuses paid for by the salaries of former employees.

Well said, @5bfau+Y5SgZiM.

When dsd ends, the only one of those things you will still have is your polo shirt. Everything else is leased and gets turned back in or reissue to someone else. Easy peasy! Sad to think you’ll be homeless, only you to blame!
I sold all my Mondelez swag to another rep, I don’t need or want! Sold it while it was still worth something, pretty soon there won’t be any reps left to buy! My merchandiser would not take free, I tried to give it away but they said no thanks.
Wise up!

New car, new phone, new tablet and now we're getting new polos shirts. We must be committed to dsd! If not guess I'll be the homeless guy with the new mondelez polo living in my new Malibu with my iPad and phone lol!!! Is this company covering up about dsd? When is it going to end? I would respect them more if they would be honest with us.

The only thing Kellogg has now that we competed with is in the cracker aisle, since they sold their cookie line. Cheez it’s does outsell our crackers! That is 100% a true statement, that’s why cheez its lead off the cracker aisle. It sure who said otherwise, but I’m a rep and have been one for 21 years, not a PT merchandiser!

Keebler does not out sell nabisco. I can tell you are just a part time merchandiser if you think that.

That’s simply not true, if they offered packaged it would be to all, otherwise it would be discriminatory. Nice story though. We are not about to have a small downsizing, major restructuring!

They offered a fellow rep of mine a package. They told him he had to stay till April. They also told him that they’re going to offer one in each district. People either at retirement age or past like him. supposedly territories are going to be spread again amongst reps. There like any company just trying to make more profit on their bottom line. Still don’t see them getting rid of sales reps so quickly.

More elaborate cover ups! Nice try! Right now they need you so they will say whatever you want to hear!

Town Hall conferences aren’t used to discuss mass layoffs, never have been!
DC really need not comment, he went from sharing DSD was ending to now. He’s management, if he really even exists? I have my doubts but have no doubt dsd is ending...soon!

The English lady said that our people is what makes the difference. She said that fill rates are better and without us consumers won't be able to purchase mondelez products

What in the conference call convinces you that we are committed? Please humor me ?

Yeah, me neither! Merchandisers will be gone as well! Stores can stock, not that hard! Everyone comments on Keebler yet they seem to have that under control! They run as many, if not more, sales then Mondelez! More trade money since they aren’t weighted down with dsd expense! Yeah, we have more displays, but they don’t need half as many now to capitalize! And all their displays stores set up, and maintain, and take down down, after they sell though! Must be nice!

Merchandisers are staying on. Most reps will be laid off. One rep for every 30 accounts is how they're going to do it. Cao will be implemented in most major accounts. It will roll out in 2021.

🧐 No idea what you are referring to? Don’t get drawn into an antagonistic comment! This site is about sharing information.
I’ve been interviewing, while still employed, and am simply sharing my experience. I’ve had over 25 yrs in sales with consumer goods companies. Getting a new job, comparable to my current sales job, isn’t easy and certainly not that fast, or even close to it.
Sure, a commission sales job with no benefits, maybe, but not a career sales job. Gotta compare apples to apples.
BTW, I’m a female.

If selling burgers at a fast food chain is your idea of sales, you are correct!
A good job, with benefits, etc, not a chance you’d even get an interview in a week! Could you imagine that revolving door? Keep dreaming!
It takes time to onboard, and that’s only after the process! Easier to find a job when you have one!

That paranoia must be exhausting, eh? How about stop living in fear. There are hundreds of thousands of sales jobs. I'll have a job by the end of the week if let go.

If you see this as “fear mongering” that’s too bad! I’m not afraid! Nobody will “know” until they choose to tell us, if that’s the proof you need! Not me, I got all the proof I need, including a strong backup plan! I’m not going to wait till the ball drops to do something!

More fear mongering people here making bold claims that they cant back up or have been flat out wrong. When are your opinionated predictions actually going to be right for once?

Not years and not trying to scare anyone....just living in reality! Way too close and Kroger warehouse is ready and waiting! WM and Kroger are driving this train, but Mondelez has been onboard for a long time! When all is said it’ll be funny to see them squirm their way out, but they don’t care! Never have!
If people are afraid, they need to react! There’s a reason for that!

Still years away peeps. Quit scaring everyone. We'll still be here this time next year laughing at these ridiculous posts

They closed two branches in our area and opened a DC. It’s enormous and only has been operating at 1/2 capacity. So what do the do, they buy more warehouse space, which currently sits empty along with the other warehouse space, which has been empty for 2 years! Not a coincidence that the WM DC is an hour north and the new 60 million dollar Kroger DC is an hour south!
This DC will serve to supply retailers warehouses! The writing is all over the wall!!!
