Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Smart Mobility Transformation Coaches

FSM is paying these contract jokers $10million/year to hold useless meetings, sit around and crack jokes, and contradict themselves. The head of the group at FSM talks in platitudes and for every hairbrained idea he throws out, he asks the attendees if they agree. If they don't he changes course.

They are scamming Ford out of millions and adding no value. Yet they keep them around while laying off good, hardworking folks.

So I guess you're anti keyless ignition too? Batteries in FOBs die as well.

To the poster who commented about my “FOB” post... I’m not going to say much about your snarky attitude but I just have to address your “guess” that I don’t think women and minorities have a place at Ford. Not sure how you made the leap from FOBs to that but you couldn’t be farther from the truth. I am a woman I have a place there. There are things I don’t like about Ford but I have always loved the diversity of people who work there. There is diversity in people and thought and it has broadened my life professionally and personally. The mind can become a narrow place if you don’t guard against it. Please give that some thought because the assumptions we make about others has more to say about our own beliefs than it does about the others.

I’m not old and I’m a technical person. Having said that, I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with a car that could only be started with an app on my phone. Sometimes my phone’s battery is too low and I have had a few phones that just stop working (vehicles are not the only things with quality issues). I’d hate to be far from home with a dead phone and no way to start my car.

We also need to appeal to a variety of customers and there are people who aren’t savvy with smart phones. Of course most very young people are more than comfortable with smart phones and those of us who work with technology love all the bells and whistles but there are many middle aged and older people who are not that savvy yet. They buy vehicles too.

To the poster who asked how you remote start your car without FordPass... I use my key fob. Press the lock button once and the circular arrow twice and she starts right up. I removed FordPass from my phone because it appeared to be draining my battery and I couldn’t find how to turn off whatever it was doing.

In Q4 2019, the entire automotive result of $.2 Billion was wasted by the Smart Mobility loss of $.3 Billion. And Hackett said we plan to spend more chasing bad ideas in 2020. Why can’t we be a quality vehicle manufacturer with products people want to buy!

So it should cost $1.186 BILLION per year to provide FordPass???

  1. S. The Explorer launch debacle had nothing to do with Mobility, and everything to do with putting a furniture maker in charge of an auto OEM.

So last commenter, are you suggesting no Fordpass app? How do you remote start the vehicle from the a smart phone?

I understand core Ford company employees being frustrated with Mobility as a whole, but don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Ford Smart Mobility is entirely a waste of money. Can anyone name a “FordX” project that has any hope of finding a path to profitability? The earnings, or lack of, from that entire group, will be interesting. They’ve wasted BILLIONS on this stuff, while we are building overpriced, poor quality vehicles, which is supposed to be our core business. Hopefully they get booted along with Hackett. Soon.

I worked there my entire career. Ford - probably like most companies - loves to believe the consultant before their employees. Too funny! Sad, actually.

AGILE is great. Don’t get it done. Move it to next iteration. No consideration for for the triple constraints: Cost - Time - Scope. Now, let’s go around the circle..... clap after every report out.

That sounds just like the AGILE coaches that we had in IT. They charged millions for teaching us how to be agile..... and increase time to complete projects.
