This never happened... The invite was distributed 2 hours prior to the meeting... What's coming?

it will be the all too familiar annual routine, if you have been at Macy' any length of time you know the routine, but think they are cutting deeper in 2020:
- Many jobs eliminated
- Many jobs job "moved", but more impacted than there will be "move jobs" to contend for and it is known many won't try, most people don't want to relo away from family & friends.
It will come out 2/4 in advance of the 2/5 Investor meeting. Exec mgmt will brag about the new store concept, massive expense reductions and try to generate optimism for the future. Stock will bounce, execs will cash out of options and restricted stock then spend the rest of the year trying to tread water with revenue.a
This will continue until top line revenue grows, as painful as it is, Macy's expenses are woefully out of line relative to comparable peers and it is only exaggerated as sales decline.
Folks - I just came to know that a written notification is required from the org to employees laying out the notice and details. Can anyone share the same that was published after the call??
Q: Are the positions being ‘transferred’ (same role and pay + relocation to location of choice) or being eliminated and need to reapply to an open position and you have to get selected for the role and associated pay? How was this explained? Is a job guaranteed if you are ready to move?!
How do you guys feel about this (I work in a store, so not really sure what the impact here is)
Update:
- Game over for San Francisco, it's closing...
- 60 day WARN notice issued to the State.
- Georgia will absorb Tech and New York will get Product...
- There will be job openings listed, go ahead and apply if you'd like
so sad good luck to everyone
be careful to not post on here with M wifi :)
Any news???
Be careful with the lawyers, most people have arbitration clauses in our contracts which k–ls a lot of the power
Its to announce SFO MTech closing/reduction. Remember you don’t have to take the offer.. if you’re let go it’s all a business negotiation at that point. Find a lawyer to file discovery and find out if the list HR used included s-x/nationality/age on it.
iirc the last time this happened, it was to announce that the previous CTO (Yasir) was leaving.
if it is specific to SF, it must involve MTech. Wonder if they will announce mergers of NW and SW regions and dissolving of districts?
The meeting is for Macy's Technology, so my guess is that it won't focus too much on district mergers.
Probably to announce district mergers and cuts
Yes PST. The meeting is specific to SF.
What do you predict will happen?
Is this 11 a.m. Pacific Time?
Disclaimer: I was laid off in 2018... Retired in 2019... Still have many good friends here :-)
Good luck all...
There’s an Office communications People Leader meeting directly following at 11:30 as well.
Can you see the distribution? I didn’t receive the invite.
Not all of mtech got the invite.. not sure if the meeting invite is for the lucky ones, or the not so lucky
It's maybe to announce this new concept store
