Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

I wouldn’t be surprised of a class action law suit

I think Macy’s may have overplayed it’s hand on this round. I suspect some of those let go have behind the scenes details that corporate isn’t aware of which could be very damaging to the company. The US president has already let it be known of his position on outsourcing and foreign hires. And from the looks of it Macy’s plan to go 60-70% contract / off shore is in full swing.

Contractor labor might be less expensive, but the H1B developers I work with are full-time employees with high salaries and benefits.

H1B and offshore contractor labor is much cheaper because the company doesn’t have to pay benefits etc. and they get skilled hard workers for a significantly lower pay rate.

If you're suggesting that this company would be better off working with the wishes of the President, then a healthy lol to you my good sir.

Macy’s might be following whatever strategy was given to them by McKinsey or some business consultants.

Curious.....why do people think H1Bs are cheap labor? They aren't. In fact, it's more costly.

H1Bs will surely be used 10x more.
It's a shame. Macy's was a GREAT company for so long and because they failed to do the right thing with technology and stores 15 years ago they're failing.

While management has been inept and deceitful they have not done anything illegal. What would the class action lawsuit be based on?
