Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

This Headline Made Me Grit My Teeth: naresh-shanker-has-100-year-old-xerox-thinking-like-a-startup

I wonder what all the scientists, engineers and forward thinkers that were laid off are feeling right now as they read this article: packaging, 3-D, AI and specialty sensors are listed as new technologies.

Is there a solid future here? Time will tell.

It amazes me that the media is falling for this bs. They all know Icahn’s reputation. His boys may talk big but the companies are never left in a better position after he leaves. Why would they believe that Xrx would be an exception to this rule.

Sad reality of today is ego-heavy exec level people promote themselves via media outlets who only get the exec view, which is often far from the truth. Peter High is one of those outlet people, and Forbes is happy to take the content. Blame social media post truth culture or whatever you want, but that’s what’s up with this article. Any digging by this so-called journalist would have revealed the disaster that is XRX 3D metal printing. And failure to monetize on all the other technologies implied by Shanker as “new”. Xerox has been working the sensor, packaging angle for years as an example.

There are so many people who were just released from HCL that could have supported this. Complete b—s—. In researching other positions I found that Konica has this service already available. https://www.allcovered.com/ . It is pretty cool actually. Just think of all the MPS offerings we would win if this was in place. Oh, yeah we sold Conduet.

Does anyone else find it peculiar that Forbes grabs hold of this cr-p but lets the paper trade of 6000+ transitioned employees - which is another technical word for laid off- goes unmentioned or written of?
I would think an article of how corporate America manages to put it to those “commoners” some call employees isn’t what their wanna be readers want to admit or have out there
It’s a “look how awesome this is over here” while they slaughter the help out back
Makes me sick

I’m not sure who is the bigger fool with Xerox moving to Raleigh. One, the North Carolina State officials who gave Xerox tax breaks thinking there will be hundreds of new, high-paying, tech jobs when in reality it’s a company shedding costs at all costs with no strategy and these ‘new’ jobs are basically replacement roles employing young, less experience, and less paid folks on a temporary basis until they, too, can be outsourced. Two, investors who think that Xerox has any actual intent to become a tech powerhouse because who in their right mind with marketable skills in AI, cloud computing, data analytics, IoT, print manufacturing, etc. would work for Xerox at the pay (bottom quartile), benefits (ACA minimum) and development opportunities (that budget was axed nearly 2 years ago) that the company offers.

From the standpoint that he told the crew in Webster they are moving to NC to hire young professionals , sure. Other than that I see nothing of importance coming out of xdx.

My advice is to read the article, then send your comments to the author. I’m doing that with the investment community, and think we need to expand to other channels.
