Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Hour cut during holiday.

I know I sound ignorant, but I am so sick of this. They’re practically destroying part time associates. I work 20-25 hours a week. I’m down to 13. I am PT because I am in school FT and have class daily. Regardless I’m 22 and I have bills yet I’m going to get f* because of hour cuts. They act like an extra 5 hours shift $60 is going to k–l a billion dollar company.

I just don’t get why if anything they can’t treat their workers who operate and make their corporation function with some spec of minimal respect. I’m expected to stay late regularly, work off the clock for OT by taking “longer lunches,” and bend at every beck and call. Yet they can’t just keep hours steady? I don’t get this place man.

Seriously, you, as well as me, mean absolutely nothing to this company or management. All you are is a warm, moving body, who is paid as little as possible.

Be true to yourself, care about yourself. Don't go out of your way for this company...ever. Walmart/Sam's doesn't care if we live or die. Watch how they treat their workers, how they treat you. And by the way, most companies are exactly like this.

Sounds like an id–t manager justifying cutting hours. They get there same pay regardless.

Don't expect anything from Sam's. Instead of any and all other quotes on the walls. Should have "Expectation is the root of all heartache". Never give that place that much. As mentioned already, much better part time companies out there & are hiring. Stop settling for bottom of the bucket with Sams/Walmart.

Just curious..how are you earning OT..or even coming close to OT to have to attempt to avoid it by taking longer lunches when being scheduled 20-25 hours??

I'm glad you found out early what a horrible company this is. The good news is that there are plenty of entry level jobs available for young people in today's economy. Spend a little bit of that extra unwanted free time looking for a position with a more reputable company, You won't regret it.

Good luck with your education! Hope your future is bright!

  1. You never work off the clock. No manager in the company will tell you or make you work of the clock. You are just lying and trying to get sympathy.
  2. Every year at this time we cut hours. Its gonna happen. We all know it. It s—s and its unfortunate. But its retail its going to happen. No reason to complain
  3. You are PT, not sure what your availability is, but you're not owed any hours. You are scheduled around your availability and what we need. Again its unfortunate your hours are cut. But come March or April your hours will increase.

So instead of coming on a website and complaining, maybe just work. Or quit I don't really care. I dont know you..

It is illegal to have an employee work off the clock. Do not do that.
