Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Have there ever been layoffs at Cisco on a Friday?

I can't remember any and I'm trying to figure out if it's kind of an unwritten rule.

It's pretty much an unwritten rule anywhere. HR knows people will take a Monday or a Friday off to make a 3 day weekend. They want to make sure they can notify all the impacted people first before the news spreads and potentially disgruntled employees can do bad things, so they do notifications usually on a Tuesday.

At least within the US, when Cisco started announcing the LR's ahead of time, they stated impacted employees would be notified between Tue-Thurs giving HR and managers 3 days to complete the required notifications, but they tried to contact as many people as possible on day 1. All the paperwork was written as though you were notified on Thursday, so that their notice to you, if given not later than Thursday, would be the 45 days required by CA's WARN laws and if you were notified on Tue, you actually got 47 days notice and they didn't have to re-do any paperwork to comply with the 45 days notice.

I had another company plan to call me in on the Monday following Thanksgiving, but I messed them up by taking Wed, Fri & Mon off to have a 6-day holiday to travel to see family for Thanksgiving. They had to re-do all their paperwork to shift my last day by one day because I came to work on Tue.

Hint: The I’ll fated moment always occurs on days that end in “y”.

This post (and similar garbage ones) are how you know half of the posts on this site are just ridiculous bot comments. Every single person who's been at Cisco for more than 6 months knows what day of the week layoffs are. They've been through at least one by then. Anyone who has been around long enough to "forget" things would know. It's so obnoxious that all social media platforms are being taken over by "make us look more active" bots and "sway public opinion" bots.
