Just to give you an idea just how bad the attitude is at bny mellon, I once talked to an accountant there who was working on data in an excel spreadsheet. He says to me “1 plus 1 doesn’t equal 2, it equals whatever the hell it needs to equal in order to make you happy”.

I was real good at pivot tables but still got canned. My only 'pivot' was instead of using the smelly mens room on 14, I was shown the door.
Got displaced in December, and BNYM did me a big favor actually. Now for those remaining,
You better learn Python coding, and have an excellent computer skill set (advanced excel with pivot table experience, advanced macro writing experience). Otherwise, you too can be laid off. Note this company will be spending billions on technology, including AI and automation especially in operations and Asset Servicing.

I would just move on and use the skill set with a company values your contribution to help them grow. If they write you off with no respect of your talent, no point to go back to the same place. They would not give you a higher respect then before. If they do, they would not chop you off the first place. Chin up and move forward.
Worse attitude are the back office client inquiry groups that act like the post office and dmv. I don't mind them getting laid off and a key indicator layoffs are coming is when they become polite and actually start getting things done when you ask them to.
BNY Mellon doesn't really hire good excel masters but most Jobs here requires you to be one .
