Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Any current employees looking for jobs now after yesterday’s announcement?

I feel like there will be a mad dash of exits soon.

Yes - I’m finally ready to take the plunge after hemming and hawing about it for the past year. I got such a thrill of being able to say “I work for Ford” but that thrill is gone. I’ll continue to be the only one in my group who does any work, process/create useless pieces of paperwork and get 500 approvals before I can use the restroom until I can find a new gig. I’m hoping it’s sooner rather than later.

Ford will start losing all their talent as there are no growth opps for people who aren’t kiss asses.

Unfortunately, yes. And it breaks my heart because I wanted this to be the last stop as I love Ford. But, multiple time TA, consistent high performer with excellent reputation, working 12+ hours day after day for years and given no advancement opportunities. If I was okay with status quo, then I would stay. But I’m not. It’s been a great experience, but I have a feeling Ford is now on the downswing as those in leadership (LL5+) only care about their bonus payout and not about the people, nor the company and they will continue to make decisions based on short term goals rather than the long term goals.

And JH being forced out just reaffirms that it’s time to go. Hackett and Farley at the helm? Who thought that was a good idea?

Yes. I finally have had enough. From the lazy FCGs in my group who do nothing to the pensioners who do nothing and I do all the work - I’m done. Now, I know all FCGs/pensioners aren’t lazy, but unfortunately in my experience, this is what I have seen. Been a great run, but time to move on.

How much longer can the Furniture Man continue to sweet talk WCF? That’s what this all comes down to.

Sad thing is Chris will last as long Joe. When the results don’t materialize, Hatchet Man Hacket will chop Chris down at the knees. It will be one failure after another with everyone trying to follow Hacket’s BS Strategy & vision. Amazing the board hasn’t called for him out - SMH

Recruiting or companies that are hiring? Been watching some postings.... but seems like there are a lot of companies posting jobs they don't intend to fill.

Talking to a recruiter on Monday. I'm done. Seen too much already and it's only going to get worse. Bill. Will eventually sack Hackett and Chris's cousin. But it will probably be too late by then.

Just going to bide my time until I can go in and tell them to take this job and shove it.

I agree. I was SRDd last year and was initially were disappointed. After great reviews and the hard work and results I gave them I just couldn’t believe it. Now I am so much happier. I worked such long hours there and was always so stressed about this or that (unreasonable) deadline. I didn’t realize how stressed I was until the stress stopped. There is joy outside of Ford so don’t worry about what will happen to you if you’re released because it will be an improvement.

@vmk Amen. I was part of the FMCC SRD last year. I was called on my drive home on May 15th and terminated. I had to relocate to St. Louis and got a $30k boost in salary.

I got let go last year and all I can tell you is life is SO MUCH BETTER after Ford. There are so many better companies out there that actually have a leadership team in place and a lot better morale for their employees. Seeing what happen to Joe H. yesterday just reinforces that the good ole days at Ford are over. Get out and start over somewhere else. I know it is scary to do but trust me it is the best for you in the long run! Everyone I have talked to that got let go, and got re-employed, are so much happier! Trust me!
