If you are laid off do they cash out your PTO to you? How about if they've already paid for an expense report for a future educational event...do you have to pay it back since you won't be an employee anymore? Afraid for March...

If you were reimbursed for eduction and they let you go you don’t haver to pay it back. It is only if you quit or get terminated for performance or policy violation. If it was due to RIF no payback.
PTO payout is different for each state. In Minnesota, you will get paid for UP TO 40 hours of PTO. If you have 40 hours banked, you'll get 40 hours. If you only have 8 hours of PTO, you'll only get paid for 8 hours. Anything over 40 hours is not paid out.
Also, UHC doesn't pay out PTO if you quit or resign so use up your PTO before you give notice. USE IT OR LOSE IT.
If you live in Pennsylvania, then you will not receive any PTO as this is a luxury and not wages according to Pennsylvania. Most at will states are this way and the corporation love it as they get to keep the money. Per federal law, PTO is wages, but depending what party rules the state, then all bets are off.
In CA you get all if you’d accrued PTO.
The PTO payout depends on the state you live in. In MN, you only get 40 hours of PTO paid out to you. Anything over 40 hours is gone. Your severance pay and PTO payout are combined into your severance check.
They will pay you up to 40 hours of PTO. However, there are some states that require them to pay all of the PTO that you have earned
Depends on the state you live in. PTO is considered to be a grant and not an earned compensation. So they dont have to pay out your PTO. I don't recall them doing it when i received my severance letter a year ago.
