SDS getting sold to Leidos

Security & Detection Systems and MacDonald Humphrey Automation are getting sold to Leidos. Press release below.

The first divestment of the year. Hopefully Leidos doesn't make too many cuts, they also make and sell detection systems. I have a feeling they will chop up SDS and layoff plenty.

Not sure how good of a company Leidos is. Anyone have experience working with them?

Leidos being investigated. Hmmm I wonder which Leidos business is getting looked into 🧐

Why is this not surprising?

I used to work for SAIC, part of which was spun off to form Leidos. Also worked with them as a prime. They seem to be pursuing the same compete-on-price, race-to-the-bottom strategy as many L3H divisions are now doing.

Keep your resume up to date.

For anyone wondering:
Tons of people have left after the Leidos buyout, including the president (without saying a word). Morale couldn't be lower. New president is totally inept. Talked only about his and his kids' personal lives during his intro meeting. No business strategy once so ever.

Many on automation side in UK were laid off, contributing to poor quality of product and inflaming tensions.

Just lost a large TSA contract, so 30 got RIF'd in the US.

Not surprisingly the equipment is very unreliable, doesn't even work right out of the box. The manufacturer never builds on schedule so sometimes a year behind on deliveries.

It looks like Leidos got ripped off by L3 for $1 billion. L3 was already in the business of ripping off TSA, so this was nothing.

There's even a lawsuit against Leidos alleging fraud for misleading stockholders on the buy. https://casetext.com/case/morton-v-leidos-holdings-inc

I wonder what Leidos will do next.

Go to Leidos (NYSE: LDOS) look for their 10-Q's. Read through and find the composition of their contract base both CONUS and OCONUS.

Any new details on the divestment?

Not many comments. Is it surprising that L3 SDS is getting sold off?

When Leidos bought a trace detection company they laid everyone off and just kept the product lines. I think they bought it for International market penetration ... so they will probably keep the services and sales people overseas.
