How and when is it used? Or can it be used?

Correct all PTO and PPTO must be used up. Correct it is only supposed to be used to assist/care for family member. Correct you can only use it in 80 hr increments , not all 192 hrs continuously. It is possible to use, just requires planning. If you know you have a circumstance that would meet criteria of using legacy sick hours line your remaining PTO up to expire while you are "out" midway through 1st week and have the legacy time kick in for remainder of time needed. You have to use all your PTO. And then you can use your bank time (192 , or what you have in the bank) Company says it has to be for caring for immediate family members. It just depends on what State you're in. Some states say it can be used for your self. But if it was me I'd save it for family emergencies and let short term or long term disability pay me for my sickness since I paid for this insurance. It's still there. Just use it wisely.
Along with the hundreds of id–tic changes that have gone down....this one infuriates me the most.....I wish some sort of class action suit could be developed.....I can't even think of a way Sams can defend taking the hours we earned and wiping them from our record....I wonder how many 192 hour folks are out there? Took my 16 personal hours too.....blank-bags!!!!

From what I understand, it can only be used after you have used all of your PTO and PPTO and only if you are caring for a relative (spouse, child, or Parent).
If you meet these requirements, you are only able to use 80 hours (no matter how many hours you have in the bank).
So, basically, it is impossible to ever use your old vacation time.
Some people should just SHUT UP
It's called dont worry about it, you should have no reason to go on "leave" most of you boomers exploit this policy just so you can have a longer vacation. BTW you can be replaced while on "leave". The choice is yours boomer.
