Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Macy's setting up old stores for failure!

Was a Macy employee for 17 years, and was on the let go list 2 years ago. The managers will go to any length to promote dishonesty in pushing an employee to open charges for customers, including telling a customer their current Macy charge will be "upgraded" when in fact they are opening an additional new credit card. Employees receive kick backs, in the form of "Macy Money" for each account they open, and then are belittled if they don't open any new accounts. The stores that will be closing are locations that are understaffed, and run down, which leads to less foot traffic. And that is how they set them up for failure.

Upgrading to Amex =/= opening new credit cards. Upgrading to Amex is something that customers are offered as an option at the signature pad, and the managers are supposed to tell you to encourage it. Opening NEW ones for existing cardholders is completely. I don't even know how that's physically possible seeing as the social is linked to your credit history.

And again, you're talking about specific dishonest people. Don't take the "fake ss" thing so personally. We've all seen at least one person do that.

And this is all coming from someone who despises this company. I hate my job and my life there. Of course we're set up to fail. But specific individuals encouraging dishonesty is not the same as the piece of sh– company. We have managers who do try and motivate through good energy. That doesn't meant there aren't lots of terrible managers. The company has enough bad policies on the books already, and these policies and their actions are whats causing these colossal failures, not individuals scattered here and there.

I’m reading this garbage. I’m a associate who open tons of cards I had a lp guy said I must be putting in fake ss numbers. Now let’s state the facts. Where would I get a plethoras of fake ss numbers. 2: I would have to punch those numbers in myself. Which only the customer in front of me did. It’s true I had managers tell me to “ up grade to amx “. They all told me to do this. Now is this dishonest. ? Ask the manager who tell me to do it.

Managers who promote true dishonesty like that are isolated cases of dishonest people in general. I don't believe the company encourages opening up additional credit cards for someone. It's been a long time since I've been a sales associate, but times when I did it by accident, like if someone told me they don't have a card and it turns out they do, a slip prints out saying "existing account" and you don't get credit for it. The really dishonest stuff is when someone puts in fake socials, but you can easily tell who's doing that when someone c-appy gets 45 credits on a Monday. The belittling can be true more often than not, I think, but it depends on the humanity of the manager in question, provided that all humanity has not been driven out of them yet.

I think the neighborhood stores definitely are being set up to fail, though.
