Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

I hear, I think, rumor has it -

Colleagues- I am begging you to please refrain from saying - “I hear that ....”. Really? You heard that! From who? The rep that hasn’t hit quota in 10 months? From the admin team member who p–poos everything that is new and different, or from the service tech that wishes the workcentre 128 was back so that they didn’t have to learn a new product. ? Or do you have a direct line into the executive suite? These rumors and speculation don’t bring anything positive or informative to the discussion. Let’s stick to the facts. The fact is if xerox didn’t do something to change that things would continue on a downward trend. No one likes reductions in force or seeing friends and colleagues careers and lives turned upside down. So let’s help the cause. Many, many, many organizations have gone through similar, substantive change - guess what - they are back and better than they were before. Xerox has outdated systems, processes, and a culture of “doing it this way because we have always done it this way”. That attitude and the old outdated ValueQuix and other systems need updated. We need to reduce the number of employees drawing a check and not contributing to the greater good. I don’t like John v, and I think that he is a pompous a-hole. But the changes that are happening are needed. What isn’t needed is people on these forums, stirring the pot, creating fear, uncertainty and doubt by spreading unfounded rumors and speculation. Please, please, please stop sharing what you “think” or “hear” is happening and representing it as fact. This does more harm than good.

If companies like Xerox weren't such asswipes at firing people with no notice this kind of website wouldn't exist. Xerox has been laying off people because they earned too much. So being talented gets you fired anyway in the end. No wonder the ship is sinking!

Last I checked, most of the things posted have been true! This site has helped many of us to see the light and avoid being part of the sinking ship. All the things I have read have been dead on. Many of us have been told lies after lies by our HR and Management team. If you don't like what you read, than move on! We have that right!

Things are getting better ??? Take another hit on whatever you are smoking. In my 30 plus
years I have never seen things as messed up as they are today.

By my count, most of the predictions on this site about lay-off actions and HP reactions have shown to be accurate by coming true.

“Many, many, many organizations have gone through similar, substantive change - guess what - they are back and better than they were before.” Excuse me? What planet are you on? Can you say Wipro, HCL,? Yeah, customers are so happy they are leaving in droves.
You came to the wrong place for your little ra ra talk. Employees have been being tossed to the side for years now with little sympathy. Very insulting.

Yes hi, TechPowerHouse hotline? The Nuvera looks as if someone vomited all over the screen.

Good post! Tons of unsubstantiated c-ap on this board, however, all of the actions that I see are “for sale” prep.

Have you not heard that outsourcing is so f—ed up, we have 6 people in Guatemala doing what 3 of us did and they can't get the work done so guess who has to get it done? yup the 3 competent onshore employees, so they're paying 9 people now instead of 3, how is that cost effective?
The customers are refusing to speak to the offshore reps
The accounts receivable is at an all time high of past due invoices
This plan of outsourcing is an utter and complete failure!!!

Please tell me why the layoffs at my core were needed. We have always been profitable. We had tenured employees, good morale and a great culture. We were never broken until Xerox started with all these changes. Now we're a shell of a company, we're losing customers and morale is at an all-time low. How was this needed?

OP: "the changes that are happening are needed" I have not seen one change that hasn't been done before.

Layoffs check
Outsourcing check
Overpaying executives check
No new products or services check

The only change Icahn (JV) has brought are more aggressive layoffs and outsourcing to inflate eps.

It's all cr#$p.

What is this "greater good" you speak of? This whole mess is an attempt to get the stock price up so Icahn can get his money and run. Xerox is under the management of Icahn of Visentin and they DO. NOT. CARE. about the greater good of this company. They will both be out of the picture in about two years and will leave many corpses in their wake.

Seriously??!! Anyone following the posts on this site are either laid off, worried about being so, or know someone who was. “Not contributing to the greater good” is the most uninformed and un-sympathetic comment ever made. The layoffs over the past 2 years have been based on age and pay predominantly, not skill or value. Just look at the EEOC reports that came with your lay-off notice. What I hear from this post is “stop talking, it’s hurting Xerox”. Guess what, that is the point. That’s what layoffs.com is all about, talking about what has happened and stating opinions about the company. If mgmt is getting so worried that they need to create a post like this, it means one thing: keep the information flowing because it is having an effect.
