Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Do you feel safe at work?

It's an honest question. State your position, location and if you are feeling safe at work. I am a pharmacist currently working at Sam's Club pharmacy in Fullerton, CA and I do not feel safe at work (co-workers not wearing masks, people not washing their hands, face to face with customers, etc.)

They halted the sample cart service to prevent coronavirus transmition but now that it is gone the stuff that I'm seeing thrown into the produce bins and boxes are cart wipes, snot towels, half eaten flinched grapes, chewing gum, etc. .... people are uncaring baboons. What does it take to get them to throw garbage into the waste cans?

Scared to death. It's a chore getting out of my car everyday.Associates calling off like crazy which makes the rest of us work harder.I DON'T BLAME ANYONE FOR CALLING OFF.Something has got to give.We cannot continue at this rate for much longer. We must limit the amount of people let into the building. One member per card no children. We need some protection for our people almost out of hand sanitizer.

I’m sure all the food industry employees felt the same way and now there wish is coming true and they are no longer going to have to feel unsafe and next week when they have no cash flow I’m betting 100% will wish they could be back at work. You at least have a choice they didn’t.

Ohio here. No. I don't feel safe.

Have to tell members to stay on their side, or to take their children out of the carts.
And even then, some won't, until I insist. Eventually I'll be coached for this, because some people won't listen and I won't ring anything up if they are on my side. I step away.

Mornings are worse, because they've figured out, that's when we have stuff. Way too many people in the store at one time. This needs to be limited.

We can wear mask, but have to provide our own. Gloves and sanitizers are provided.

And if your manager won't let you wear a mask, call a higher up. Or call the news, channel whatever in your state.

Do not feel safe at work at all, and we were told we cannot wear protective masks because it isn't professional! If I wanted to die because of my job, I would have joined the military! York Pa

No i do not feel safe at all. I do not feel that this company gives a sh– about OUR health. And I can't stay home bc I need the money. So I will continue to work and probably get the virus. But hey, I'll continue to risk my life for these people who dont care. Something needs to be done before we all end up in the hospital.

I would feel safer if our store had a confirmed coronavirus case and was shut down than the current circumstances. Members are out of f—ing control and other departments are starting to fight with each other too, nobody wants to be here, but we continue to show up because we're wage slaves. For those lucky enough to be young/live with their parents, they've already quit or are just pointing themselves out by calling in repeatedly.

Alos, Nobody should be posting their location or any other personally identifiable information.

The "just stay home" solution is not feasible for everyone. Some of us haven't been here 20+ years and don't have pto time racked up. Some of us only have a week or less and can't afford to use it now, especially not knowing how this whole thing is potentially going to unravel. We may need it for when they inevitably have a national shelter in place order or quarantine. The company says that they would pay us for 2 weeks in case of that eventuality, but what next? Bills still need to paid. I know the gov't is working on stimulus packages and yada yada, but that's no guarantee. I personally cannot use any of my pto until absolutely necessary. So, even though I may not feel comfortable or particularly safe, I have no choice. This is pretty much how most of my fellow associates in our club feel also. We just can't afford to not come in without any securities in place. Also, why feel the need to reply with, "just stay home", in the first place. Stop being an a–hole or corporate plant and learn some empathy. You've probably never had to be an adult and think everything is easy, or don't have any bills, or selfish, or all of the above. Either way, troll somewhere else.

The MM's, RM's, and higher do not care. Of course it's not safe! If they cared about their people there would be nothing available but club pick up. Including for pr-scrip-ions.

They do not care !

No, not at all. If you pulled most associates and they gave you honest feedback they would feel the same. And its understandable and in human nature to feel that way. If we are supposed to practice social distance why are mass amounts of people allowed in? Doesnt make sense. We are potentially being exposed and taking something home to our loved ones. That's human nature to feel that way.

No I don’t feel safe. Way to many people. Sam’s should pay us more money just to keep the stone open. Amazon is paying workers more money. The store is so over crowded and so unsafe for us.

The number of members allowed inside at one time needs to be limited. Limit the number of members and guests inside to 50. For every 50 members that leave, 50 more can enter. Also limit entrance to one member and one guest, not their entire family!
