Thread regarding Ford layoffs

UAW shutdowns

Why should UAW show up for work when all salaried people are sitting at home collecting full pay and benefits for doing nothing?

If this company is driven into bankruptcy, shareholders and employees will be hurting, and the Ford family will still be passing the Grey Poupon.

The Mach-E will make money because it is being made in Mexico. Funny how much more profitable cars are when they aren't made by UAW workers.

I dont want to be home locked out of Dearborn. Its a challenge to keep comnected and work progressing. So dont assume its Ferris Buellers Day off, trying to make a difference.

@1dog; wow the Mach-E , k–ler vehicle, oil is $20 barrel, and where pinning the future on an electric Mustang. The current Mustang returns less then 5.5% margins, how much you want to bet the Mach-E is less then that.

Salaried sitting home doing nothing? How about working on Mach-E and 2021 F150 launches. Which if those don't go well hourly and salaried alike will all be furloughed.

Sorry I went to school and got skill training to have a job that could be done anywhere.

Perfect time to figure out what folks are doing from home. Folks with true deliverables still have to meet timing - milestones. There are those who do very little in an average day while in the office and have to fake it while their there. These are the folks upper management needs to target and let them know their skill set is not up to par.

Letting these clowns in the middle management re design their own business unit was a very bad move.

Don’t equate all salaried employees with office work. There are a lot of us who do physical labor and are still working at our usual job sites to keep projects on time.

Let’s not turn this into a hourly vs. salary debate. We have enough of that with the political B.S. between the Democrats and Republicans. Let’s be realistic, we have hard working people on both sides, in addition only a fool would believe all salary people working from home are putting in a full day of work. Behavior at work will follow behavior at home. Way too many people at work surfing the net, Facebook, etc. People are people, doesn’t matter what side of the aisle your on.

Wow, what an absolutely incredible post. I'm salaried and have spent a few years in the plants. I worked a blue collar job for a long time to pay for school. Nobody handed me anything. I wasn't handed a job when I graduated. My family is blue collar. Now retired. I have friends that still work in the plants. I know most of the folks in the plants work hard and care a great deal. I've seen it with my own eyes and I know it my heart when I talk to my friends that work in the plants. We are all in this together, UAW, salaried, suppliers. All of us. I know people are scared and concerned about their families, I am too. We didn't ask for this. Nobody wants this. I'd love to wake up and find this nightmare over and we can recover. I don't know if that is going to happen or not. It's frightening.

To say salaried folks are sitting around doing nothing is absurd. I'd much rather be in the office but I'm not allowed. Instead I've been putting in 12+ hour days. I didn't do that when we had a normal way to work but that's not the case right now. I'm doing what ever I have to do to help us survive. Maybe I'm a fool but I care. Even after all the garbage and mistreatment during the last few years, I still care. I don't care about the 2 Jims or the Ford family itself. I do care about the regular folks who depend up on their job to support their family regardless of the color of their collar. I'm very sure most people love own family as much as I love mine. Maybe you should care too.

well, we are not a fascist or communist country, so if your employee based is scared, they aren't going to show up...and we can't make them show up. In addition, pretty sure car sales will be down over the next 2 to 4 months minimum, so we don't need as much product being made. Makes sense to shut down the plants for a some weeks....

Maybe you do nothing, but I have to continue to work.

The salaried people are WORKING from home. Not sitting around doing nothing.

The plant folks should show up because that’s their job.

Doesn’t matter much anymore due to shutdowns, but when you work in a plant building cars, makes sense you would have to show up to the plant to build cars. Pretty self explanatory.
