Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Well waddaya know! Seems we're essential workers who must come in to keep the network going

So DON'T EVER TRY to K–l MY PENSION AGAIN, Verizon! Also, union should squeeze their nads here for a contract extension to 2027.

The attitude towards union workers on display here is discouraging for those hopeful common sense will correct the course many companies are on

I can only guess the people who constantly throw rocks at unionism are not very well versed in history, and seem to believe corporate hype.

But maybe they are choosing to ignore history because their feelings got hurt crossing a picket line, and blame the strikers instead of the company that forced them into that position of being a scab.

You can’t teach people unwilling to look past their own nose.

Every anti-union diatribe here is a very sad and embarrassing example of self centered pity. Those of you who have young teens know this mode of existence, and as parents you try to guide those teens into adulthood without taking that coping mechanism with them.

What does it say about people still using that method as adults?
It means they need guidance, not scorn.
When I read anti-union BS here, I think of the writer as a poor misguided teen in an adult body, which is someone that simply doesn’t know any better.
But sometimes, when they’re being particularly emotional... I just want to slap the hell out of them too.

Just some coffee thoughts.

Verizon will only pay for a positive covid test. Tests are only given to cases requiring hospitalization now.

So now we take tylenol and go to work or be subject to the absence step plan.

@nlu, yeah sure, the people who are keeping this network running at a time when the population has been told to shelter in place are useless. Riiiight. Let me guess, you're one of those management hipsters at Basking Ridge making those oh so useful videos every day.

Imagine that, communicstions are essential during a crisis.

But hey you could be a airline worker, bartender, server, entertainment venue, or well one of millions that got the heave hoe without a check for possibly a month or two.

As for your union should squeeze them? Better hope the contract negotiates during a crisis, if not any other time your totally replaceable.
