Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

Would John Mackey stand 2 feet away from customers all day during the pandemic?

I officially invite John to stand next to a cashier while 500 customers pass through their line, potentially infecting them with Covid-19.

I heard that the sun glare reflecting off the tin color of a hat made out of foil is enough to refract cooties so we are all good here!

There still needs to be things done for the people who have no choice but to work because they have a kid with sickness in the hospital, because the have loans you pay, because they have vindictive managers (store or team leaders) that make it clear if they take the time off and leave them “hanging” they will get them eventually for not having their back, wether it’s by writing them up, looking them over for promotions. Oh your JD is up well I’ll just give 2 or 3 points on reliability “cause you left me hanging during the epidemic”.
C’mon man, the regional leaders, regional presidents and CEOs know what is happening, do better to keep people safe, instead of placing the blame on people who make due with 1000 dollars a month and have to stay working.
Be human. Get a guard at the door. Limit the amount of people in and out, it would a good thing for your consumers too.

Example of temporary barrier. Create it with plexiglass so it can be cleaned and you've got something:

Give me one example where that sort of energy helped you?

Complaining of mistreatment, or protesting is how change is made. If John were to see it first hand what is happening in some of the stores, maybe precautions would be put into place. Maybe "his" store, where they make his special salad everyday is doing things differently.

What needs to happen immediately:

  1. Limit the number of shoppers in the stores with a door guard
  1. Only open the store after the aisles have been stocked,

eliminating the need for stockers to be close to customers.

  1. Remove any extra displays or obstacles in the aisles so people do not have to walk closely
  1. Create a barrier between the cashier and the customer. There are many ways this could be done.
  1. Move the credit card terminals further away from the cashiers.

We can't continue to allow cashiers and baggers to be so close to so many people every day. Mackey is not responsible for the pandemic, but his lack of action will result in many people with permanent lung damage and deaths.

Why does that matter? All team members have the opportunity to choose to stay at home. Attendance accountability is suspended. For those who decide to stay and work, they get an extra $2 per hour. If you choose not to, you can use the generous PTO we earn. Get over yourself. John Mackey isn’t responsible for this pandemic, but he’s working to help where he can, and yes, knowing him, he would absolutely stand in close proximity to customers. Stop being negative. Give me one example where that sort of energy helped you?
