All the exec's care about is their wallet. To hell with the people making it fatter, as long as it continues to grow.
The customers that cannot get what they paid for? Is this why L3 is deemed "essential" since they probably think this is an opportunity to catch up from the past two years of being behind on delivering to key accounts.

Ops employees are being paid wages that some "no skills required, essential" positions are now being paid. Companies are handing their employees PTO for this. What do we get? Told to go negative. Absolutely disgusting. We build things that take and save lives, but our lives don't matter. Don't kid yourself.
If layoff's occur (due to COVID19 enforced local government compliance to self quarantine) civil war could result within corporate communities.

and there have been numerous memoranda published over the last 2-3 days by the armed forces acquisition commands specifically stating the the military industrial complex is considered essential even though some materiel is not consumable like ammo, etc

My division doesn't manufacture bullets or guns or anything that is "quick turn" and could be used tomorrow if some enemy invaded our shores....we manufacture things that take years of design and development, and have a very specific niche customer, none of whom if they did buy our gear today, would be on the front lines tomorrow.
Now, if the division leadership said we were shifting to ventilator manufacturing, I'd be in 7 days a week.
Until the government both federal and local clarify further that our industry is an essential service right now, I’m not buying it. I does make sense but they have not mentioned it.
You will never please all the people. There are people losing jobs, wondering how they are going to provide for their families because businesses have closed. Then you have those that complain that they have to work. At my division, we have been told we are essential. We have been told we will not close. We have been given options such as flex schedules and work from home.
while i won't miss an opportunity to take a shot at Billy and the Kube who ran me out of town after 14 years with the company - i think the point is that L3H's customers are generally Defense Prime Contractors who in turn support the warfighter and national security. Its reasonable to consider businesses in the Defense industry value stream to be essential. If an enemy wanted to attack the US, what better time than when the country is distracted by a pandemic? You may think its all BS and the threat of an invasion or attack is minimal but the Generals/Admirals of the US armed forces get paid to think about such scenarios so its no surprise to me that they want businesses to support a high state of readiness...
