Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

Prioritizing programs, leading to cuts?

We received list of priorities for this year and the list of non-priorities. Anyone else know what it can mean?

I’m hearing that there is now an active “Returning to Profitability” program.
Read into that what you will.

i got laid off Lenovo a year ago. Scariest feeling of my life. I had 7 interviews with Cisco for a position that was going to be a regular full time position and told the offer was coming by the hiring manager. At the last minute the job was converted to a contractor position. I had a lot of irons in the fire and other offers soon to be in. Because they bent me over, I accepted just to have a paycheck come in. The other offers started coming in and the one I truly wanted came at 5PM on Friday before I was to go in the next Monday at Cisco. Called the contracting agency at 5:15 and told them I was not taking to position. The managers were so mad and calling me and threatening me. I laughed as I started the best position I have been in for over a decade. It was the only one that had a path to retirement in 12 years. I don't miss this private tech company BS one bit. Anyone getting laid off now is going to be in a world of hurt. I have been in those planning meetings and I know what is happening.

#1 If you are in a position and demanded premium salary because of the low unemployment rate, you are the #1 target.

#2 If you are a white male over 45 years old, you are target #1

#3 If your nose does not have a permanent brown stain, you are next.

"Prioritizing programs" is Liar-speak for "deciding who gets canned".

And sInce Cisco doesn't measure performance , that just means " who do we hate?"

The good thing, for all of us that ALWAYS work from home is that now we have an advantage. Before the office critters were always working on their visibility and s—ing up to all and sundry, while the remote workers never got a word in. With the expected results when head cuts came down. Now, these people are in the same boat - panicking to be heard.

I am noticing alot of backstabbing going on, degrading certain people's jobs or not including them in meetings. Making decisions as if certain roles are more vital than others. Even though we are WFH, the air is thick with panick and primal fear. I doubt backstabbing is gonna work this time around. When they slash jobs, they slash jobs. Best to keep your professional relationships in good terms.

You have no idea. I live in a house away from everybody. In a small mountain valley. I’m armed to the teeth. I have enough supplies to last months. Two police trained dogs. Surrounded by cameras and night floodlights. I’m safe as can be.

Feminazism, manazism; whatever - doesn't matter.

Time to move out into the bunker in the woods.

Programs that might lose funding will be cleverly renamed. Cisco is like working at a used car dealer these days.

My wife gets paid much less than her male coworkers and she is rated at the top of her group.

Depends on the grade.Lower grades tend to be rated higher since they have lower expectations. And rating higher people well means budget hits with salary and bonus.

San Jose-based Cisco Systems Inc. will pay $4.75 million to employees after the U.S. Department of Labor found the local tech giant had paid female, black and Hispanic employees less than male and white employees for comparable work.

Yep, feminazism to replace manazism. About time to replace the expensive males with 85% earning females.
The misogyny never stops.

Yeah,
#1 Diversity and feminazism.
#2 More diversity.
#3 Go back to #1.

First it's prioritizing programs, followed by aligning friends/family to prioritized programs.
