Stimulus Check

Any other VSP’ers screwed out of 2020 Coronavirus stimulus check because of the one-time severance payout? I’m guessing they’ll use 2019 w-2 data.

They are using 2018 or if you have filed 2019 BUT it will be "trued up" based on 2020. So if at the end of the year you qualify for more you will either receive a tax credit or another check.

From what I've read, they will use your 2019 tax return, if you've filed them already. If you haven't, then they'll use your 2018 return. FWIW, I'm in the same boat as I have filed my 2019 return, I don't expext to see a dime. But since I'm securely employed I don't need the gov'ts money. Give it to some of the folks who are working 80 hours a week at the hospital or 0 hour a week at the diner, they need it a lot more than I do.
Not to pick on the OP's situation. They may have taken their VSP check and invested everything into a shaved ice stand for all we know. Good luck and I hope you are well through all this.

Verizon wont be credible again until a US born CEO takes over.

Luckily I never got around to reinvesting my 401k after VSP so it’s all in cash and I don’t need the stimulus check but if the government decides to do away with Obamacare, I’ll take it, may pay for ten days of cobra

Verizon ran off all Americans. Horrible and unethical payment. It was the brave that fail only the sword and left to save those that couldn’t leave before more layoffs.

Quite frankly, I believe the relief payments should only apply to people that have lost their income. People that are still being paid by their employer should not receive relief checks. That would allow those most needy to receive a more meaningful amount.

VSPer here... I hope I don't receive stimulus check, there are many people who actually need the $$. If I do receive a check it'll be immediately donated to local charity.

There are people, many people, who are in terrible shape, and complaining about what amounts to pennies for Verizon salaries right now is pretty classless.
Count your blessings for once.

Why would a VSP person need a stimulus check?

Unless they are really poor at managing money like associates. They should be set for life.

This must be another in a long, long line of union troll posts.

Key word here is the VSP employees chose to leave the company voluntary for VSP money. No one was forced to leave, hence the name voluntary separation package

Op, you’re funny. So you would rather your severance be 30, 40, 50 thousand dollars less so you can collect between $2,000 to $5,000 in stimulus money? I also Volunteered for the 12/28 vsp and while getting that money would be nice, I would rather have it go to someone who lost their job (which is where mine is going if I qualify) or to pay medical personel hazzard pay or buy the equipment they need to stay healthy. I assume You are healthy and left the company because you could, you agreed at the time that your severance was enough. Stop crying about how you are getting screwed and consider yourself one of the lucky ones.

2018 tax return, using AGI, not just your income. Unless you, or you and spouse if filing joint return, AGI was more than $199K, you will get something. If less than $150K, you will get the full amount, then it is prorated up to $199K.

You haven’t been screwed out of anything. You accepted an offer to leave and were compensated for it. How ungrateful.
