Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

April 1st

Do you think the stores will open on April 1st or be pushed back? I checked on insite and there was actually a schedule for some part of April. Of course there is a schedule for this week as well under the reports button. What does everyone think?

The mayor of Atlanta has issued a Stay At Home order for the entire city. So no, the Macy's in Atlanta is not re-opening on April 1st.

@ybw+143x8HMx tried to tell us Macy's probably would not re-open on April 1st.

I live in Southern California - we are on a mandatory lockdown that just started. 4/1 does not seem realistic for me.

If you live in NY or NJ you know the answer is no.

It's horrible right now, this will take 3 months to clear.

M's current Covid-19 Leave and Pay Policy only covers colleagues for 2 weeks (the number is in bold print on the policy). Unless they opt to amend this policy, which they certainly can, FT & PT associates will receive two weeks only.

I like many others wondering about how were getting paid after the 2weeks and from there if more than likely not open until after April 1st.

I was thinking the same thing, they will probably open up in the middle of April maybe toward the end of the month. They said they were going to pay full timers 28 hours for the 1st 2 weeks and there is no clue what they are going to do after that.

It will not reopen yet. They may say April 15th, but def not till May 1st. They are looking at turning fulfillment back on and bringing some key people in to run it. But that hasn’t been determined yet.

They might open on April 1st but it will be reduced hours like it was before the shutdown. It will probably last for about 4-6 weeks. That's just my guess, who knows. Anyone have anything they want to add to this?

Truly depends on what part of the country you're in, and the severity of COVID19 in the area. It's all about local conditions, risk assessment, risk mitigation (i.e. crowd size control, maybe checking temps, employee protective gear, etc), and risk acceptance. There's no such thing as "zero risk."

To be clear, there's no such thing as "zero risk," even before COVID19, Unless a person sealed themselves in a bubble at home and purely worked from home in a bunker with Super Max prison level security, a person and people are exposed to risks everyday in their lives going to and from work and at work. COVID just amps the risk up several notches.
