Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

April 6th

Managers running stores until April 5tth. Reps will be returning April 6th. No word on at what hours. They said we will know when we know. They said the intention was to give all reps a14 day quarantine. Guaranteed at risk for commission again in April. Communication to hit inboxes tomorrow. Tho reps won’t see it unless they have their work email on the ACE device.

But the positive is you all reps gets at least 14 days off. Some of you has almost 21! Enjoy it.

Verizon will pay you 8 weeks at 100% and then it goes to reduced pay at 60%. I believe target commission is factored into these numbers because that’s how they do it with disability. The following situations will qualify you.

1) If you have a child that you cannot find any other available childcare for and you are unable to work from home then you should email VZ.Emergency.Leave@verizon.com and request leave. “The email should state the child’s age and that there is no other childcare available, and that you will notify Verizon at the same email address if childcare does become available. Additionally, you must provide a copy of the school or child care closure notice. “

2)You can also use the above email to request leave if you are diagnosed with covid-19 or caring for a family member that is. You will need to submit proper documentation.

3)The email also stated “ if you are symptomatic but not diagnosed with Covid-19 contact your HRBP a who will appropriately code your timesheet.”

4) If you Or a household member have an underlying medical condition and were directed by a doctor to self quarantine and you are unable to work from home email COVID19-WPAT@verizon.com and fill out the forms they provide. If you don’t have access to the forms contact your HRBP.

Hope this helps!

Would someone please explain what the 8 week thing is? Where or how do you find the info to file it? We have no childcare and my husband is essential. We are trying to figure out homeschool and childcare with no family in our area.

Look online. Your store hours are already posted.

I can see a certain percentage of Verizon stores reopen with reps back in action. If this happens then certain things need to be in place for the health and safety of our employees/customers. There should be gloves and masks available to use throughout the day. Strict adherence to the 6 foot rule and discretion to not let a customer in the building if they have any symptoms of a cold let alone the virus. Mandatory temperature checks for employees on a daily basis as well as symptom assessment.

I don't know where you live? But, in NYM we're the epicenter of this virus.covid19 cases doubling everyday since Monday. If Verizon thinks they're opening these stores in NY and NJ in the near future, its not goi g to happen by state orders . Let's see how Verizon is planning to reopen these stores.

Keep opening more stores. It’s going to be a great relationship with upper management and front line employees

According to Verizon...yes.

Why doesn’t Verizon partner with Asurion during this time. Give everyone temporary insurance and if there is a phone issue they can get over night replacements. Problem solved

Cash bill pays will have to wait but they aren’t shutting off service or giving late fees so who cares. Troubleshoots can be done via tech

Keeps employees out of retail stores

My has been store closed since Monday. If you look up the store hours on Verizon website they have us opening up again on Monday the 30th 10-5. So they are definitely opening up stores again

Until there’s official communication we have no reason to believe this. They have hubs open for districts currently with managers rotating between the stores for staffing. I would assume it will either stay that way or all the stores will close until this is over. Further Trump’s 10 people gathering doesn’t matter if states and cities are still enforcing it.

Supposedly some stores are opening back up on Monday and with full staffing and normal hours. Was told that this is because of Trumps order of 10 or less is expiring and Trump said he wasn’t going to renew it.

This is the final nail in the coffin for retail. Little cell phone shops will never bring value again. Paying someone $60k + a year to con old people. Common.

Online, big box and indirect will take it from here. Thanks for playing.

I don’t believe the post because the virus isn’t scheduled to peak until may 1st

Well it’s probably not going to happen at my store. Since we closed all my employees filed paperwork for the 8 weeks time off and they all got approved. Hard for them to come back when the company gave them 8 weeks off.

I can see this happening with reps coming back around that time, however my director told us today that most stores won’t return to normal in our territory until the middle of April at the earliest.
