What do you think? Will permanent layoffs start right away or will they wait for things to return at least somewhat to normal?

You stink
I suspect that the deadwood will be cut as planned, with even more being added to the rotten, unusable woodpile daily as the downturn merits. The butthurt whining pathetic losers to be cut include many who post here.
If they send me an unexpected FedEx package I will not accept it and report it as a phishing scam!
Layoffs will start soon, lets say in April/May/June. Probably in 2 waves a 4-8 weeks apart instead of one large cut. This gives management time to evaluate the results/effects of the first cut and some extra time for cut 2 in case the Saudi/Russia 'problem' is resolved.
So true. No exaggeration.
Social Distancing at it's best.
You will never sea a Chevron face.
Your badge will be de-activated
You will get a phone call from HR while you are a home.
You will get a FedEx package.
Your former managers will anonymously describe you as butt hurt on this forum f you complain.
Thanks for your loyalty and sacrifice.
It will be delivered by FedEx to your door step, done so in the past
I think circumstances like remote working during the shelter-in-place will delay layoffs.
Difficult to deliver layoff messages via e-mail or video conferencing. PDCs and/or BUs can conduct some initial discussions by phone but I would envision a few months delay before employees are notified. Unfortunately, this will result in more consternation throughout the staff.
