Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Trust your coworkers to not show up when in the throes of a virus, says HON.

So per the email sent out Monday 4/20, I am actually supposed to put my life in the hands of Aero coworkers and trust that they are not COVID! Given that it's Aero in AZ and in the heart of MAGAt land, that's asking a lot. Who does my family sue if I die? I'm detecting a way for HON to ditch liability.

Stop with the political sewage. If you don't like AZ, then get the f@#k out! You trust your coworkers to make sure that you and your family don't die from equipment failure when you board a plane. So, don't belittle them for doing their jobs because you can't deal with your own fear. If you're that hung up on people making you sick, then lock yourself away in a room and stay there. Will your family sue the universe if you die in a natural disaster? Nope. Getting sick is part of living and it could k–l you. The flu has k–led more people than COVID-19 and you posted nothing about it. Enough!!

Health professionals knowingly study and take jobs as doctors and nurses etc. Remember AIDS needlesticks in the 80s and 90s? Software industrial coders have different expectations.

And health professionals have a right to expect their employers to provide PPE.

The OSHA guidance is pretty clear- if you can prove you got it at work, it is a recordable case. What does that mean if you die? Not much. You can't prove it if you are dead, and being recordable doesn't mean a thing. MAYBE you might get some medical bills paid by the company, but they are really going to fight it. There is a possibility of showing an unsafe work environment, but there is a rule about how to pursue that. I suspect OSHA is overwhelmed now and nothing will come of that either. Wear a mask, and wash your hands. No one really has more that that at this point.

Correction, a mask protects others from you. Sorry, I’m multitasking.

A cloth mask does not protect a person from a virus. It protects (somewhat) persons from spewing at you.

I have a family member who is immunocompromised. To the OP, please ask your Or his/her doc to write a note; that should take care of it. Your manager should send it to HR.

If you get COVID you also endanger first responders and front line medics. Think of others. If you’re GOP, well your leader said you won’t miss a paycheck.

I wonder what the OSHA rules are, and the AD&D insurance policies in place (Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance). Not sure what the clauses are there... something to look into, for on the job illnesses. Might be a hard sell with any Cancer related illnesses (e.g., Asbestos litigation).

As for suing China, whether you like the idea or not, it's not going to happen in real life. Why? Because if we open up our courts to suing China, then China is going to open up THEIR courts to sue the USA for anything that they want. Now, do you think the Chinese courts are fair & open, rule of law based? Nope. Do you want to be the US Government or any company in China that could get dragged in front of their courts?

As someone else pointed out in a different thread, the same logic and reasoning was behind not suing Saudi Arabia for 9/11 … again, like it or not that's how international affairs is conducted. There is no World Court that you could take an international case like this to.

Your family can sue China if you die. Their irresponsibility is what caused this in the first place. How much longer do you think the U.S. can remain in lock down and still have an economy to come back to? If you're that worried, then put on a mask and wear gloves.

The White House is working on something where companies won't be liable if the force you to work and get sick/die. So much winning

Maybe I don't get it. I get a mask when I go in. I don't need full PPE gear like a doc or nurse.
But that is me and I also maintain distances.

I also agree that, related to the Hon message about going back to work, that how I know if I was exposed to anyone that has Covid since so many don't even know they have it.

Some of the posts her make no sense

How are people in throes of a virus that they do not even know they have because it may have no symptoms and testing is not availble, supposed to not show up?

And how on earth is it logical for an employer to expect this impossible feat?

Is it too much to ask a company with billions in cash to provide protective gear for those who have to work in person, to protect everyone from silent transmission of something they don’t even know they might have.

I don’t think it is too much to ask at all.

Those who think it is asking too much, should be asking more of their employer!

With over 40,000 dead from Covid-19 in the US, it is criminally negligent for HON not to at least be providing PPE to their employees who cannot work from home.
