Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Bonus! Hazard pay!

They gave us $300 and promised us a portion of our bonus whether we qualified or not. A bonus if we qualify for would’ve been our money anyway. Today I find out that this bonus is $200. Are they serious?! Half of the club took LOA and the ones here got $200? This company doesn’t give a sh– about us smh. I am so p-ss-d. We put our lives on the line and we aren’t even appreciated.

What about the ones that have had their hours cut? That $200 does not mean a thing if they are losing $300 every paycheck. That’s for a full timer so I can only imagine what it’s like to be part time. We do deserve more for being essential workers and dealing with the stuff we deal with. From one worker to the rest of you I am proud of all you do and thank you because I know that’s not said enough either

Please, please wash your hands, wear face mask, wear a face shield over entire face on top of mask if possible, and keep hands off of face when yu remove PPE or anytime. If yu have to work, keep it safe. Sam's should provide hand sanitizer.

Some of us don’t want to leave but we are forced to . What if we have children and their school is closed and no one to watch over them or little babies in daycares . We want to work but we don’t have a choice . So sometimes it’s not in our hands . Everyone be safe we will get past this together with positivity.

This company doesn’t even offer to pay or help pay for any medical expenses if one of their employees does contract the virus , considering most of us get paid squat and can’t afford the insurance ! All of us that has stayed and worked everyday through all this deserves at least double time pay and or the company to help pay for medical expenses if one does get this . I know this will never happen , have seen this company operate for 23 years and they have never once done anything that is in favor of their employees that doesn’t benefit them ! They don’t even care if you have underlying issues that make you high risk of death if you get this virus ! They know we can’t do anything and won’t qualify for the unemployment unless we quit so they’re sitting safe in their homes with not even a thought of us out their making them billions ! And to the employees that can afford to take an loa and stay home safe , I’m glad you can do that but i don’t believe you deserve any bonus ,

I think that the people who have showed up to work every day need to get the bonus. not the ones showing up every other day or taking three days off - back for one then off another three. All because there is not a attendance policy, what a joke. Only hurting the ones that show up with a work ethic. Pay only the people that show up every day.

For all of you saying I’m happy with $200, I guess that’s what you value yourself at. For me it’s about the respect and value. A billion dollar company that risks its employees lifes so we can make their millions for them and they turn around and give us $300 and now $200?? Call me negative, grumpy or whatever you want but these actions show they are cheap and will never do something good just for their employees without thinking for themselves first. Anything they do for us, there’s always a catch to it. It’s never just 100% benefits the employees.

I'd rather be on unemployment, I'd make more money.

I, too, am happy with sc-aps.

If the choice is between sc-aps and nothing, I'll take sc-aps.

Is it just? No, obviously not, but what real choice do we have?

None.

Simply the illusion of choice.

You gonna run out and get some other $11/hr grocery store/essential job, especially right now? Yeah, good luck with that.

Are we ALL constantly being exposed to Coronavirus? Yup, but what's our alternative?

Homelessness.

This is what your parents meant when they said life isn't fair before they died.

For those of you fortunate enough to still have your parents providing shelter for you, savor the moment and your relative safety.

For those of you also in this sh– situation weighing literal potential life/death with homelessness/bankruptcy, my heart goes out to you and I wish you good fortune to come, ideally away from this disgusting company.

You’re happy to take the $200 because you think your life is worth $200. Some of you have no voice that’s why these companies will use you and replace you.
