Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Union Pacific Greatest Company To Work For Bar None

That's right, I said it. All you whiners that are complaining about everything - QUIT, America is a free country. The benefits are amazing, the pay is far more than you lazy people should get and the retirement is about as good as it gets. I have been with UP for 17 years and I just laugh everyday hearing all the crying going on out at work. The best thing is the ones crying the loudest are the same ones that sleep, play games and watch movies on the clock every night. No one ar Up is overworked at all. there is more chair time than any other job out there. Again if you do not like your job QUIT, it is that simple. At this current time, there are 26 million Americans that have filed unemployment that would trade you places in a heart beat. Most (75%) of Union Pacific employees are FAT, LAZY and pretty much WORTHLESS. They have to stay working at UP because any where else in the work force they are USELESS.

Still the greatest company to work for FACTS?????? Depending on what craft your in and location the 17 years don’t mean a thing at the Jenks shop or more than likely any other shop on the system. A great company doesn’t unnecessarily furlough employees for a dollar especially when half the fleet is junk and is eventually going to need to be overhauled due to breaking and improper storage.

The person who started this thread is obviously trolling. There's also a good chance that they're no longer employed by UP, or won't be for very much longer.

FACTS is probably upset because they got called out for being lazy and got passed up for one of those manager positions so now they are lashing out at the ones that carry their @$$. Go sit back down and drink your coffee Mr. 17 years the rest of us will take care of everything and help you keep your job till retirement. Or hey take your own advice and quit you’d be doing your coworkers a favor probably.

Union Pacific is a typical large public ally traded corporation. Nothing unique about what they are doing. You mentioned a– time. That happens because they staff for the peaks, but the valley’s always come. That’s why they are trying to get the undertime thing going.

Facts are everything the op stated is pure grade A bull$hit. Yes at one time this was one of the best places to work for and people were proud to say they worked here, those times have long past and now this company is no longer the best out there especially retirement wise. Most companies have better 401k’s then this company offers, comparable medical benefits, vacation, attendance policies, and overall less toxic management and culture. Stating no one is overworked is also a lie some locations locomotive move teams barely get lunch and stay busy all shift yea those not moving locomotives have plenty of @$$ time because more than likely the hot lap the pits to go sit down. The op has 17 years in, undoubtedly he has weekends off and one of the easiest jobs at his location so he’s definitely not working hard and probably one of the guys no one wants to be around because he is likely a kiss @$$ hanging out with the managers drinking coffee with them. Your 75% is filled up by those with 17 years or more cause the younger guys are doing all the work.

Amazing your self-confidence is so brittle you felt the need to start this thread on top of another thread about a guy quitting. Obviously people are quitting.

The original post is a good example of how UP talks to their employees like an abusive spouse does (ex. “Nobody will ever do what I do for you, you can’t find someone better”, etc.). The reason why the OP can’t see what is wrong with the company culture is because they are part of the problem.

BTW, UP compensation is below average, especially when the conditions of employment are taken into account. The benefits are nothing to brag about either. Most large companies do better on both, with better work/life balance too.
