Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

Fairness?

Someone please explain to me why I need to use my sick or personal time when my counterparts have not been assigned to any job and are just paid to be off, the lack of fairness of this company is unreal, can’t wait unionize!

The entitlement factor here is very high. While tens of millions of Americans are unemployed, Verizon is stepping up to care for its people and pay them a full 40 hours regardless if they work 0, 20 or 40 hours. And you cry about fairness. Just the kind of person who would want to unionize. Go work somewhere else. Your co-workers are disgusted with you.

Even if we were to unionize, don’t expect it to work as well as it does for landline, like here in Pa.
The landline side has always been union and like it or not, they have more leverage.
The Central Offices employees do the connecting of the wireless side.
Last time they were on strike the company went nuts trying to get people to replace them and ended up in a giant mess.
Sorry, it’s the truth. They picketed at my store and we were told that they were all going to be replaced and that we shouldn’t have any contact with them.
Then they got their contract. Then they got it extended. They just have it better like it or not.

So you’re upset that you had to go back to work while your co workers stay home and get paid... ok I get it... but if they are staying home getting paid, why would they want to unionize?? You’re the one that that upset. Not them... plus get over it. Its hard times and the company is trying to get everyone back to work how ever they can. You just picked the shirt straw....

I can’t imagine a worse reality than what Verizon has done to us for the last 3 years. CWA may be bad, but they’re a hell of a lot better than Verizon’s haphazard chopping at front-line employees. At least make Verizon work diligently to get rid of us. Why would we make it any easier for them?

I honestly hope Verizon does get unionized by CWA. Not because I think they’ll do any good but it will make it worse

The counter parts sitting at home will not be laid off. They will be the first ones to go back to the stores

Because your counterparts who have been sitting home are the ones that are going to be laid off.

Good luck with that. I used to work for AT&T and they were CWA. Things would be a lot worse. And your counter parts didn’t choose to not have an assignment. Be grateful you have a job and that the company is taking care of everyone the best of their ability!
