Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Southern stores opening May 4

Those of us in GA, not sure what other states, got an email today saying our stores would be opening up on Monday May 4. We will be getting notices within 48 hours if we are on the list to come back at this time. Not all will be coming back as it will be with minimal staffing. Email said that it was going to be curbside but stores are saying that we will be open to the public as well. Stores must be ready with social distancing practices in place in order to open. 66 doors are on the list to open early. Only associates whose store is opening received the email. Stores know the number of people they are allowed to bring back but not the names. Only store level employees are being brought back. No regional/divisional at this time.

@2ifu+14HZrYCy, if you got that email about reopening, it's also in your messages on Insite.

If your store is reopening next week a message should have been sent to your personal email. Nothing has been posted on Insite yet regarding the new store openings.

I would not trust the governors because the Texas governor basically sentenced us to death they have only tested 1/3 of our population and the large counties are still having hundreds of new cases a day and averaging 10 deaths per day

If all colleges have the opportunity to decline the first call backs, will that affect their unemployment eligibility??

Sorry, I do not know what the authorities dictate for Fla, but Macys is heeding the advice of state officials. The governor, to be specific. Listen to what your governor is saying & then you will know when Macys is reopening there. As long as he/she has shelter in place orders, Macys will not be opening.

In currently reopening stores, the Store Mgr makes the decision who is called back, and contrary to the prevailing belief in this forum, it is not based upon earnings. The first returning have got to be our store's powerhouses-the super performing, the loyalty gurus, the high sellers. Understand that since keeping the numbers of staff in the store low is the MAJOR priority, the caliber of those individuals must be of the best. Those will be receiving calls from the Store Mgr today & tomorrow to return. All called colleagues have the opportunity to decline the FIRST call back, but if they decline the second call back, that will constitute resignation. As the phases of reopening our country unfold, so will the stores-slowly and corresponding to foot traffic, level of store operations, and customer demand.

The safety guide lines say we have to take our own temps before work and tell our managers when we get to work ... But every store is sold out of themomters. Idk I feel like they are not going to do much to keep us safe. people are going to come to work sick. Yes they state they are providing us with masks but that's it. They already cut back on cleaning companies before we closed.

DeSantis is making an announcement tomorrow. Hearing speculation that Florida’s “phase 1” may not begin until first or second week of May.
