Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

I'm really tired of this

Constant guessing, worrying if layoffs will happen this week or next... I'm at the point where I'd much prefer to be laid off right now then have to stress over it for who knows how many more days or weeks (or even months, since there is still no end in sight to this.)

Just let it be over with, one way or another.

you've got your mindset wrong. hope you keep your job. not hope you get laid off. severance and unemployment won't last forever. cobra s—s and is expensive. once it spent it spent. might have to give handies again.

There is no such thing as a voluntary layoff....you quit, you lose. You will not get any severance pay. You might get your vacation pay, and you will not be able to collect unemployment, not in TX.

I was like that and decided for my sanity to find another job while I still had one. NOV will never be like it was, accept that and move on.

They will probably take your voluntary lay off if you want it. Just speak to a supervisor.
