Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Beginning of the end (of furloughs)

I got the call to return to work, my store is in Texas. JG indicates the next round of store reopenings will be May 11. Those of us in TX, GA, OK, and S Carolina are starting this Mon. I understand we must wear masks, there will be hand sanitation stations storewide, all registers will have plexiglass shields, and clothing that customers return or try on will be set aside for 24 hrs before putting back out. Not all stores will be opening fitting rooms, however-some will only have AYS and curbside pickup......varies by store. Hrs are abbreviated 11-7 for the time being. JG said he will have much better idea about how customers are feeling about retail opening up by next week. Uncharted territory.

Company is providing masks, these are the only ones to be worn on shift. You must wear their mask during your shift. You will be issued four. No personal masks that you bring. Gloves are not required and frankly, all gloves do is spread germs and virus. We are open sell shoes already so no getting any from "the back" and we won't be measuring anyone for anything. New uncharted waters right now. Macy's will have the promised safeguards in place or we don't open. So stop assuming the media needs to be called and tattled to. You feel unsafe, stay the h3ll home.

To Macy's workforce
(please see the Charlie Chaplin movie The Modern Times)

Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

If you are not getting the protection Macys promised (including updating supplies) have someone (a non-employee) contact authorities or better yet the media. They need to be watchdogged,

Question? Will they provide the masks and gloves? Or we will have to buy them first our in sake :-( ... They better have a plan, its not going to be easy and nobody wants to touch those clothes. Tell me a manager who will play the same role as a fitting room associate ...

Not social distancing between employees. Social distancing from customers. I work in women’s shoes a customer picks up the shoe they want to try they hand it to an associate basically 6 inches away or a customer wants to be measured for a suit impossible to maintain 6 feet distance

They can maintain social distancing because they had so few people working even before the virus. And now it will be even less employees ...

Uncharted territory no kidding. Did he mention anything about social distancing because in most departments like women’s and men’s shoes, jewelry, suits and cosmetics pretty much every department almost impossible to maintain a distance of six feet.
