Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

I agree with the comment below me. It is not based just on stats. Nothing is ever that black and white. There can be a multitude of reasons why one person might be chosen over another. If left to ones own discretion it could be just based on personal preference. There are some that might base it purely on stats, others might just draw a name out of a hat-because they don't really care either way. At the end of the day just be glad- if you aren't picked then you get more time off to do what makes you happy and you get to keep yourself safe at home. If you are picked to come back first-well you no longer have to deal with as many uncertainties, and perhaps you were chosen because you are someone's favorite. Either way just stay positive; this to shall pass.

But if the store manager has discretion to bring back whomever, isn't it plausible they could bring people back for reasons other than stats? Not all jobs are stats based too. I don't think we have enough info right now to know the rules

To the person replying to the OP I have only this to say: It has NOTHING to do with what someone is paid. The staff being recalled first are chosen by their stats-sales, loyalty, customer service. IOW, the best the location has. How much they earn is a non-issue, how much tenure they have is also a non-issue. Here is the situation at reopening: depending upon the capacity to which the indivdual store reopens, each has a non-negotiable number of colleagues they must limit themselves to. The store mgr chooses the creme of the proverbial crop to return & leaves the rest for subsequent callbacks over the ensuing weeks as business dictates (and governmental authorities allow). Sorry to burst your delusional bubble, but you sure sound like someone who needed a serious dose of reality check.

Doesn’t mean it will have a full staff in 6 weeks. I think of a lot of high paid associates and managers this is a good opportunity for the company to kick them to the curb and hire cheaper labor
