Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

We are first at something!

Macy's furloughed 120,000 employees. Nobody comes even close to that. From what I can see, the next two are JC Penny and Gap with 80,000 each, which means a third less.

Aren't you proud? Our incompetent management has finally shown the one thing they are good at - screwing over their employees.

And I'm betting you the number of those who will be back to work in the next six weeks will be in five instead of six figures.

Untrue stats from ID: @OP+14K12GC6 (who started this foolish thread) the company only furloughed almost 90k. If you’re going to quote statistics, get them right, and thank you to those reminding everyone they are paying benefits through end of June now, guess what, they didn’t have to. Many of my friends companies just CLOSED, laid them off with nothing, no potential reopening, or job. I’ve only worked for Macy’s for 7 years, but I choose to stay, as others say, you have a choice, make it, move on, no one will miss you.
I think they are doing a great job handling this unprecedented situation, and they will prevail, yes, most likely a smaller company, but will be back.

Macys has more workers jcp and less brands than gap. What's the percentage compared to other retailers? LEARN MATH

I think most of us are now aware of the states with dysfunctional unemployment systems – there's no shortage of them.

Who is the dipshit mo–n in all of these threads that keeps bashing employees and claiming that Macy's plays no role in all of this? Low wage meccas like Macy's, JCP and others are absolutely part of the backlog of unemployment claims.

But there's light at the end of tunnel. Once these lower paid associates get a taste of real money perhaps they'll leave and seek decent employment.

Everyone will be under paid and told "don't let the door hit you because other people need jobs". It has happened before and it will happen again. Hiring practices have been under the radar for a long time because employees who witnessed these behaviors are afraid to lose their own jobs.
That explains the culture of the organization. The company needs new everything because people make up a company and decisions they make affect everyone in the end. Good luck to everyone!

Be mad with your state government and federal government that some haven’t received their UE benefits. Maybe if the systems in place weren’t archaic and we had a government with competent leadership it wouldn’t have been a problem. But nasaaaaah of course not, it’s Macy’s fault. Grow up.

Yeah, I think it’s great that after 30 days so many colleagues have gotten no unemployment benefits yet because all the states have been overloaded by retailers like Macy’s and JC Penney furloughing all their employees

Yes, more money with unemployment and no deductions, and medical paid in full. I appreciate Macy's paying my benefits. Hope to get called back soon.

Maybe comparing percents of workers? Because we have a lot more employees.

You also forgot to mention...they paid our health insurance in full. By furloughing us we were able to receive unemployment+600, which gave a lot of workers more per week.

Sounds like your just another complainer
Glass half empty huh?

Look again, It's half full and another refill is on it's way
