Face shields and an idea...

Any of my fellow Sams receiving comrades out there??? We got a box of these giants face shields that are huge. The instruction is to use them while unloading any non DC truck. Its like a freaking welding shield! Am I going to be driving through rock fragments in these trucks? What exactly are they going to protect me from? Just another bird brain attempt to make it look like they are protecting us....when it will do zero to help. And I bet they hired extra home office help to watch cameras to make sure we have these cumbersome useless shields on. How about getting top notch masks? I have an even better idea!! Why not take the temperature of EVERY single person that enters the building (customers, vendors, truck drivers, visiting upper management...wait they don't come!). If yer over 100 degrees.....sorry no admittance. Why just associates?? Are the members gonna cry about there civil rights??? I know they piss and moan about wearing masks....and can only imagine the flow of tears if they had to get there temp checked. But these are times we have never seen before and people need to bend to try and end this terrible crippling virus.

We were told we only had to wear them when checking an associates temp. Our club manager was the one that told us that. Doesn't surprise me that no one really knows what to do!

Why a face shield rather than a mask?

Yes, receiving is suppose to wear them when they check in local vendors (since you have direct contact with them). It is listed on the wire under covid19 updated. Yes, the company is trying to hell protect is more. Yes, I will be wearing mine..

Now wait a minute they do care did'nt you see the commercial that our CEO made thanking the employees I believe I seen one with the Kellogs CEO thanking the employees as well. I dont know about everyone else but I was just so excited when I seen our CEO in a commercial thanking the Wal-Mart assoc. That made me forget about the possibility of getting the virus and taking it home to my family.

We received them and we were told that receiving area was one of the areas that they were designated for, but we were not given any instructions as to what type of situations we were to wear them. No clue. They are just sitting in the office collecting Covid dust.

If you're tired of the posts complaining then stop reading them, bootlicker.

Our concerns are valid whether or not you agree with them.

Respect and gratitude are earned and this company has been exploiting the labor of people that don't have any power for a very long time and will continue to do so.

"Bashing the company everyday is creating a "workplace bullying" environment on this page"

It's laughable that you feel like the very small amount of comments here are bullying a 50+ billion dollar company. Try to see an issue from anyone else's perspective just once in your life.

Hope they sent plenty of them to go around and be assigned to every person that unloads. You cannot possibly share a shield with another person. Aren’t they a safety hazard as well? It can’t be safe to have that restricting your vision while driving a lift.

Really tired of reading all these posts that the company is not doing enough. If you are so concerned for your health and well being due to the virus, stay at home. That is your choice. Bashing the company everyday is creating a "workplace bullying" environment on this page. And if one decides to not work, please do not complain and ask the government to bail you out. Everyone that is still working is fortunate. Millions of people do not have an income, quit complaining.

Healthcare workers can’t even get the masks they need to protect themselves from the virus so what makes you think we’ll get any better than what we’ve got. The best idea would be to close all manned registers and force scan and go and self check. That way there’s no contact between associates and members. Or if they’re gonna keep manned registers open then ditch the runner system and make the lazy pricks unload and reload their own carts. Inconvenience the member for once HO.
