Freep reporting salaried workers in Dearborn going back to office June/July

Despite some IT teams being more productive WFH we are all going back into the office in June/July.
Company is stuck in old mindset.

Tata, IBM and many other companies have all reported huge productivity increases with IT staff WFH for covid19. Tata reported they will WFH indefinitely due to huge productivity increase.
Are Ford IT workers different than all other IT workers? Or is it the Ford leadership that is different?

How I’m I going to sell all these new Steelcase Desks if you don’t get back into the office. This WFH is hurting my returns on the sales - The Big Man

I worked as an IT contractor at both Ford Oakville and FMCC Dearborn at the same time - two different contracts but both companies wanted my skills so I was shared. On both contracts, I WFH for at least one day a week. And when I ended up with just on contract at Dearborn, I was allowed to work 4*10 work week. It was great.

But they wouldn't allow any of the Ford FTE's WFH or 4*10 work week.

I have heard that now, contractors are no longer allowed to work OT, Weekends, or short work week. Guess I got out at the right time.

Think Freep jumped the gun a bit. Ford has said they would not reopen plants until State of Michigan gave the thumbs up. Well, wouldn’t you know it, the c–t that is your governor just extended the stay at home until 5/38.

The last weekly huddle said most office workers not reporting back beginning 4 to 6 weeks after the other critical workers - so likely August to September for most of us. The company and the government seem to want most of us to live in misery and poverty. Apparently,

Ford management is obsessed with a "Bed Check" culture. If they can't see you, you aren't working. Also, butts in chairs not only feeds their fiefdom egos, but also validates their existence. Damn productivity, efficiency, and OH costs. They must micromanage and be able to send people on wild goose chases to fill their days.
