Thread regarding Verizon Wireless layoffs

deployment

So let me start that by saying yes we work for a great company and yes that I am happy to be employed and continue to get a paycheck.

But now let me rant , so this redeployment is c-ap, you have people “randomly” chosen to work in a location, you have people deployed to work at home and than you have people who haven’t been deployed , what was the thought process on this? First off what I choose and what my peers choose is not what we got, I put customer service last and got chosen for it. Second , The company should have done a survey with questions like do you have to tend to child care? do you have to home school a child? Do you work part time as an essential employee for another company ...these questions could have eliminated a lot of people who took themselves out of customer service within the first week

That being said, how far is this? People working in a store are only working 20 hours tops and also getting an additional 30% hazard pay, people who are home not deployed are getting their full pay with commission and customer service reps are working 40 hours, how fair is it that If you want a day off you have to use a personal or a vacation day, how fair is it that some of my peers who do have children or just need to step away from their computers are being hassled by their manager who is also being hassled by their manager who is a customer service manager ? I’m not saying that we should not take calls for an hour without a valid reason but no all of a sudden their are new managers in place to make it more structured and accountability

So the gist of this is that people who have been deployed as care reps got screwed , and I have this gut feeling that this will be our new career ...

You were placed where you were needed. If you answered that you have internet and others didn't, I'm sure that was taken into account. I'm sure people without internet were chosen for stores and if you have internet you were chosen for customer service. 2nd, if you have children you need to care for then go to the covid-19 page and fill out the form and request leave if you have no other options for child care. You'll be off and still paid for your full 40 hrs. It's not that difficult.

@1hbj+14LW4IpR Retail clerk jobs do not pay 60k to 100k per year at Target or Walmart. Even after 15 years with this company I’m shocked Verizon pays so well for a retail clerk job. Oh yeah......I guess they pay so well because it really isn’t a retail clerk job. Dumsh!

@1hbj+14LW4IpR Troll. No one would hate on retail unless they were union or a person with their head up their a$$. Don’t believe anything about layoffs on this site. Layoffs will only be made public 24 hours until it happens. Only believe real news. Not fake news.

Don't worry, when the dust settles they will be axing people. Your right, its a great job for a retail clerk. Where to after this? Walmart? Target? Both are highly coveted retail dream jobs.

LOL stop whining. What would you have you liked instead? Your peers that could not work from home to only get paid the 20 hours they work in a store? Would you rather be doing nothing and get paid nothing?

Most WFM assignments didn’t start until retail redeployment was in motion for 3 weeks. That means it will take you 2 weeks to catch up and call it even. It’s such a dumb argument or observation anyway. Personally I believe only those of us working in a retail store should be paid the at risk or WFM telesales.

Well first off I agree there's a lot of confusion for work at home people and pay if you can't do 40 hours. At least in my area we have been told and there was a company-wide email that kind of hinted at it.. they expect you to work 40 hours however. You should be able to make arrangements with your temp supervisor if you have special needs. For example someone on my temporary team is only working 29 hours a week.. but they're still getting paid absence time for the remaining hours. Working in retail a lot of people had arrangements for certain days of the week off in my area they're working with people but not charging them leave. My advice to you is you might need to go very high up maybe the ask Christy form. It is clear a lot of people don't know what the hell's going on and kind of makeup rules. That's the biggest problem. The work-at-home team I'm on has been reorganized twice in two weeks. I totally agree the survey was a joke. I think the only thing they took into consideration where the people who volunteer to go into the store after that it was random.
