Good luck running Ford without the old boomers and the mainframe. They tried to move HR system off to Germany in the 00's to run on servers, spent $650M trying and another $150M to bring it back. But yeah, go ahead.

The worst skill in all of IT is not being honest about what works and what doesn’t. There is so much one directional top down communication, that people who know the truth aren’t willing to say no or be honest. Leaders tend to act like they can’t face the truth, because they might be part of the problem. Once everyone addresses the elephants in the room, real progress can be made. If you asked me, the real problems have to do with leaders who aren’t giving others a chance to speak up.
Ford Credit SEs, no question. Mediocre software engineers, terrible products, horrendous managers.
To the below list, I'll add the transformation office. The money spent on Agile/Rally is astounding. Spend millions to put out less work because of bureaucracy..... nice. Also, the manipulation of budget numbers is laughable. The numbers reported to senior management arent out of left field, they are from another ballpark. This is the consummate fiefdom because it gets larger and larger and nobody is willing to call it out. Our area of IT has become the gloomiest place that I have worked in a long long time.

Hands down the teams that produce KPIs and other meaningless metrics for leadership.

imho all are leadership issues. When an LL6 or LL5 moves to a new position, inevitably they bring along the problems of the prior group as they were the problem.
I think that's a bad question. I believe all teams have value. It's the system in which they work that doesn't allow them to be their best. You have teams that consist of the worker bees, the middling and then the slackers. You have teams of 15 when a team of 8 will suffice. Then you have piss-poor leadership that couldn't find their @$$ with both hands. Then you have the business partners that can't make up their minds. Let's not fail to mention projects that last 8 months when they could be easily done in 2-3.
All or some of these traits create dysfunctional teams and environments.
