Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

Shake up in houston service

I heard all houston service management will be laid off, and they will be bringing in new people from outside to run service.

OHHHHHH SNAAAAAAP!

The interesting thing is those 3 stooges among other executives don't think much of Malls. They know how he is but nothing they can do when manchaps vouches for him. Once he retires...bye bye GI Malls.

Last friday was just the beginning, if you survived you are only there to help train your replacements. All of houston service management will be replaced.

The U.K. is still taking over NOV, slowly but surely. Just making more room to bring in more Scottish buddies..

Mall Cop is not at Bammel. The nickname was given to him because he failed as a real police officer among other reasons. He loves to gossip and waste peoples time. And the worst is he gets off throwing people under the bus while being under a chapstick desk.

Director level on up in service Houston is absolutely clueless on how to run a business. Really just a bunch of dong gaggling yes men. They made a lot of mistakes today thinking they know how to lead.

Tech College is still open, 3 instructors gone. Lots of good people got the chop at Bammel. Rough day for everyone.

The tally that I gathered was about 15 Service hands (20% reduction) all the service group managers except 1, and a handful of Service Supervisors. Then there were cuts in the accounting side, too. I heard around 60 total in the Service side. I guess the Tech College is getting closed and they were all let go. Over at the warehouse there were big hits also.

Sorry for the confusion boys, was being facetious. MallCop is in Rig but not in service. However, he does love getting in other departments business because he loves to meddle and gossip. He has told people in the past to come in but not to worry, only to then lay them off......typical GI-Malls stuff (Gossip Intelligence). That P O S is at the tower on a segway.

Correct. This thread does not pertain to him so I’m not sure why he was even mentioned here.

Still no idea on "Mallcop" There's no TM in my organizational chain, so it's not a service related person at Bammel, and in my position, I'm not involved with anyone over my Manager or at the Tower. I don't even know where the tower is.

Mall cop is not overseas. He’s in the tower and he’s a VP and obviously a completely incompetent. That’s the way NOV rolls though. It’s TM

I think Mallcop is someone overseas in UK somewhere. I have never heard of someone being referred to as "Mallcop" at Bammel, and I've been here more than 10 years. Maybe he/she is a repair guy? Not a service guy in PCG for sure. Or could someone who knows who this mallcop is give us the initials of the person? Thankfully, I am scheduled for a job Monday, but I'm hearing from buds that were let go at Bammel this morning already. It s—s to see these guys go.

I'm not sure who "Mallcop" is. I was called by my supervisor at Bammel. I'm not worried, I can go full time at my side job on Monday.

That's a pretty vague statement, since there are so many business units.... Is this across the board or a specific PL?

Depends who called you in for the quick meeting. If Mallcop called you in but said not to worry then you are royally F’d. If the Scottish goons called you, more than likely you are also but might have a chance.
Either way Best of luck.

I'm pretty sure that I'm one of the service guys getting let go tomorrow. They don't just call us field guys "In for a quick meeting", it's always been a calendar invite for a formal meeting, even toolbox talks have always been scheduled. Guess I'll know for certain, but I'd bet that's it.

They will be consolidating job responsibilities, they will be restructuring the management and supervisor levels to operate on 50% capacity of current work force. Those that will be taking over will be from outside of the service dept.
