Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

When will we be notified of layoffs?

Now that we know they're coming, how long do you think they'll keep us in suspense?

@2jzi, you mean that your boss, the same gender as you , is banging YOU, in the rear, and you enjoy it. Just to clarify, in case the readers misunderstood.

I find it amazing that years and years of billion dollar net profits...and the sky is suddenly falling in two months time and it's time to call in the reaper.

Watch out for May 27, a Wednesday. That would be the target date for the 'end of May' reference.

Folks selected for accelerated EOIs will be gone by end of May.

Check out the "transformation" page for timing. Sounds like the "evolution" has moved into a "transformation" too. Congratulations. 1 out of every 4 is gone. There will be several PSG tranches. Make sure to K some A as they get announced, they go from high to low. Be wary of buddies at work. They will be applying for the same jobs as you. Good luck all. I'm sure we will all meet again in the future. It is a small business with good pay. Hard to give it up.

Last time was on several 'random' Wednesdays. I was there. No one was given advance notice of their status to prevent any work sabotage or premeditated violence by those who were let go. All during the day various people would be approached by their manager and HR rep and told to turn in their badge and any keys and were immediately escorted downstairs to be processed out. Word would always leak out on the previous Friday or on Monday of the upcoming Wednesday cuts. It was pretty hectic and panicky during those cuts. Hopefully it will be more orderly and disciplined this time.

Yes, do not be an alarmist. For petrotechs at least Chevron has been very reasonable the last few k–l rounds. No sneak attacks or surprises. An orderly ROM with all the inevitable butt kissing. Those left standing were in some cases let stay for weeks after to sort out their affaires and pass on project work (although some left the day after, I am guessing by their own choice). I have worked for other companies that blocked doors and handed you a prepacked box on termination, but that has not been my observation of the chevron way. Yes prepare for the process, 25% is a deep k–l, but I do not think you will be blind sided... it will hit in slow motion 3D.

You are working for an amazing company sadly they go through the the good and the bad like everyone one else. I spent 25 years with Chevron before retirement.

Don’t worry about the day of the week that they announce reductions.

fFocus on your job and hopefully you will be fine

It’s a scary industry and if you get through it is something you will face several times in your career

Best of luck wishing you the best

These responses are silly. They’re not going to just send employees “home” on a random Wednesday. There will be a ROM (or three with different phases for different PSG bands, i.e. 26+, 26-23, and 22-). Chevron will follow the usually process to avoid wrongful termination lawsuits. It’s going to take until August-October. 25% seems like a reasonable number, similar to ESP and various upstream BU transformations. As hard as it is in a personal level, the industry is at the mercy of supply and demand, so it’s necessary. It’s sad to lose good people, but it’s better to throw a few people overboard instead of sinking the whole ship.

Yes. On Wednesdays. Never Friday because of 9/80 work schedule. Thursday, who knows why not. Because of work from home (WFH), layoffs might be by email or text message. The effort will be made to notify/contact you and have applicable severance documents signed and processed. Personal items in your office will be collected and delivered to your address. In 2015-2016, employees were given about 2 seconds advance notice of their departure. Chevron wanted people processed by HR and out of the building as rapidly as possible to prevent an 'incident'.

Start reducing expenses now. Start saving money now. You should have 3 months minimum stashed. More is always better.

Everyone will go through musical chair first, depending on your PSG timing varies, for pSG 25+ if not selected, you will be out by early October [off from the pay roll], others are possibly out before Thanks giving holiday. 25% haircut or about 11000 people world wide. If you are not selected, do not panic, oil will be up in 2 years and everyone will be chasing for you.

Chevron does layoffs on Wednesdays. So just watch out every week when Wednesday rolls around. Look for increased police presence around and in the building.
