I think it’s pretty good.

I don't think NLR can handle another big cut. They JUST went back 20 years for the electricians, about 14 years for machinists, and they cut MSOs when they were already short. If this is true, I just know they're not thinking about reopening Jenks, at least not under UP. Anymore big cuts would mean they're trying to end mechanical ops in NLR. What you guys think?

@1vdd+14 It’s been said on other posts locomotives coming out of North Platte are a mess so it’s not shocking to hear that the trains are too, all the bragging about all the work they’ve been doing and how everyone is taking under time sure paints a picture of just how hard working that location is.

North Platte does not do the proper inspections on their trains...it’s a mess when it comes to Iowa for a inspection

Headquarters is In Omaha 281 miles away from North Platte. There is NOTHING in North Platte other then Bailey yard and farm land, and people that live there think it’s the big time. Two industries farming and railroad are the only thing they have going for them and that’s it.

What headquarters is in North Platte and what big people?

Headquarters is in North Platte. The big people are in North Platte. When North Platte is the last shop standing, and the mechanical side is standing between bonus money, dividens and shareholders, that azz is grass.

Reality is Bailey yard is important to the company not the North Platte mechanical shops it’s already been established that they are running locomotives into the ground and not properly maintaining them. Something breaks and it can’t be fixed quickly and cheap they throw it in storage and grab something else to replace it if it’s there. Proper MAINTENANCE (things that need to be done to ensure the longevity of the locomotives) is being pencil whipped and signed off done when in all likelihood it hasn’t even been looked at or fixed properly. The phase turn and burn has been heard by all working in a service track. For the current time being all that matters like @1ccd said is the operation ratio (OTR) and mechanical is not pulling freight they are slowing it down with maintenance so getting to that magical OTR of 55 they’ve been pushing more layoffs and shop closures are probably going to happen even with the magical under time they’ve offered.

To the op... the word is imminent. Eminent has a totally different meaning. But hey, what counts is giving it the good old 7th grade try.

North Platte is the hub of the railroad. Why do you goofballs think, and comment, on the demise of this locale.

Wake up and be for real. You all aren't going anywhere, any time soon.

If NPT closes, the RR industry is definitely over.

They don’t tell anyone until the last minute what their plan is they are expecting to get to the 55 OTR they’ve been trying to reach since the start of this whole PSR/Unified 2020 then they will bail and leave the dumpster fire for someone else to clean up. No location is safe undertime is just a facade they are using to lure those using it into a false sense of security then they will swoop in and cut staff or close whatever location the deem necessary at the moment.

Here comes the North Platte rumors again! This shop will not have any layoffs anytime not even next quarter. Dont you think if there was a layoff in the works we would been hit already? We take voluntary days off think about it saves us brothers from hard hit and tough times
