Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

backroom associates

Any backroom associates that work the early shift having a lot more trucks from the DC showing up during the day? We have been cut from 4 full time and 1 part time to 2 full time and 1 part time, yet we have a LOT more deliveries during the day not to mention we do ALL the claims c-ap too. No one on second shift works in claims, nor does anyone on second shift work out any mixed pallets. books, or does club pick up! That's the Sams Club way. work more, pay less!

Thought it was just in my club! The morning shift has less merchandisers than the afternoon shift but the AM shift does over 90 percent of the work. The afternoon shift only does paper (toilet and paper towels) and water but not even all the time. They run the dock but leave everything on the floor (whether we need to stock it or not). They will start a project (resets, endcaps, etc...) and not finish it. So our morning crew does all the stocking, cleaning all the mess that PM crew left (trash, unwrapped pallets, pallet Jack's everywhere instead of being put back, empty pallets everywhere), finishing the projects that were left by PM crew, sign changes and signs that went missing or not fixed in the afternoon, OYI, audits, Hots, All consolidated pallets and many dumb projects before we go home. We generally have 3 to 5 merchandisers in the morning. All so PM associates can hang out and talk. Have had conversations with managers and GM about it but nothing gets addressed! They dont realize that all but 2 or 3 of their AM merchandisers are ready to leave the company when things get back to normal. There is over 50 years of Sam's experience gonna walk out the door!

Morning backroom here - our evening crew leaves us so much - we can't figure out what the actually do?
Pallets on the dock, the baler full and box bins full of cardboard, rotisserie chicken trash leaking on front of the compactor.
DCs not keyed in - dirty gloves and masks on the office desk, half eaten food all over the breakroom, forklifts not plugged in (usually sitting in the freezer or cooler).

Leaking flour, sugar, soda thrown on the floor in front of claims.

I blame our young inexperienced teamleads/management because they all just want to be friends instead of actually making their same-aged staff do their jobs.

I am an evening backroom associate and you all are a bunch of little b–ches. The morning crew sits in the backroom with their thumbs up their asses all day. Morning merchandisers full of long term entitled associates that think there sh– dont stink while us evening people bust our asses. You all are a waste of space!

why so many mixed pallets? i can remember when they would fit on a flat cart. a couple for office supply and a couple for hba. now it is totally out of control. has the mixed freight increased? comments are all correct, no one works on mixed pallets. we need a designated person for this task.

Glad to see it’s not just my club. Be thinkfull if u got a raise to work back room. I’ve been doing receiving and claims since last June and never got back room position. Only reason I don’t complain is I don’t like working around members.

We do everything during the AM . Unfortunately we are just trained at the job ( we knew it before the change) and the PM really hasnt been given the opportunity to train. So we cant get upset with them. Its their PM manager having them do everything but backroom responsibilities. We cant point fingers that " they" dont do anything. Its probably not their fault. They probably would like to do their actual job they are getting paid to do. I know our PM backroom associates would . Just my opinion from what I see at my club.

One of the second shift managers doesn’t like the way the first shift back room associates unload the DCs that come during the day because they don’t separate it the way he likes it so he left them a note to leave them for second shift

Our second shift backroomers will not rack anything wrapped tagged and ready for the steel if is was wrapped by 1st shift ! They just set those skids aside...the afternoon merchandisers stock nothing before closing while morning stockers run from 4 til 1230 stocking the whole time save for member services ..oh and audits and OYI ..all mixed skids clothing and books are done by morning shifters..welcome to Sam's..overwork a few and let most just float along..

maybe its because the second shift has to work on the floor while the club is open and can only be on the dock the last couple of hours of their shift, where it many clubs it is just one person

We walk into a mess every morning! Mixed pallets blocking the receiving desk, trash by the compactor no one touches claims but morning back room associates. We get stuck with one sometimes 2 meat and produce trucks plus McLane at least 1dc all the local vendors which includes the Frito mess and our state liquor which can be anywhere from 7-30 pallets! Yep this new way works out well!

Try having 10,000 c-gare–es to check in from McLane and still keep up with everything else.

Same in my club. Our 2nd shifters don’t touch claims, maybe will do 1 DC... don’t touch any mixed pallets , leave paperwork all the time, not sure what they do anymore .. claims is suffering cause we are trying to keep up with all the trucks ! 1st shift is getting the raw deal in every club

I bet ya walk into an office at 4am with DC and fresh paperwork waiting to be keyed....and get yelled at as to why it wasn't keyed!! And McClane that came in the PM and is never touched.....since AM receivers dont have time to train the PM crew about ASN!!

Holy sh– yes. Our first shift does all of the work. Second unloads the fresh truck and occasionally a DC but they don't touch claims and they never actually receive anything. They unload and run away. Most of the time, they don't even run the stuff from day shift that was left on the dock.
