Tower VP’s, Directors and managers

It is so ridiculous to lay off sales people, IT, and other workers but keep all of the VP’s, directors and managers. How many direct reports do they have?? Maybe 1-3 each?? NOV has always been top heavy but now it is worse than ever. How much are these salaries costing? Has anyone considered combining some of these areas under one director? This top heavy organization is costly and cumbersome. The actual employees/sales people are the ones with the specialized knowledge. The board and C.W. need to read Gary Hammel’s book “First, Let’s Fire All the Managers”. In it he states “Management is the least efficient activity in your organization”. Again, I ask the question of who or how many are they managing now? How much are all of these VP’s and Directors costing the organization? How many front line employees, that actually bring in revenue, could have been saved with all of those managerial salaries??

They will learn when it’s too late, that’s just the way this company is ran. Traits for being a Director/VP:

Varco legacy...check.
Varco lazz-kssrs...check
Nepotism first...check
Incompetence...check
Galveston Jr college education...check
Past mall copping experience...check

It goes on and on. If this place was better managed, starting from the top at a normal height, we would Still be selling something and not losing as many people. Really sad.

It would seem to make sense that when you cut your front line workers in half, the same would happen with upper management. I would love to know what the ratio of managers to workers is at NOV.

You are so right. So many of your management don’t even no how to treat people on the floor. And the management we have in line s— bad. I wish they would no how to run the company.
