Be thankful you have a job. Entire sites are being forcefully laid off and you are talking about volunteering? Wow.

When you volunteer for a RIF, you are laid off, equal to a forced lay off. That is what all my RIF papers said. You qualify for unemployment payments in AZ.

@1qgw: You may be correct. I'm going on what happened to my wife about two years ago. HR told her she would be eligible for unemployment insurance with her voluntary layoff. She applied to the Arizona DES site and they told her she did not meet the requirement of "You must be out of work through no fault of your own" question since she volunteered. We found out it didn't matter what Honeywell HR said and it's up to Arizona Department of Economic Security person that actually makes the decision. Maybe it's changed since then. Good luck to you and hope you get a different result.

Asked HR. You will be qualified because you nominate for the Riff.

Here's a link to the AZ Department of Economic Security website. See the tabs in it to answer your questions.

What does being unemployed through no fault of my own mean? To qualify for UI benefits, you must be out of work through no fault of your own.

Why do I have to report my vacation, sick, holiday and severance pay? You are not eligible to receive benefits for any week in which allocated severance, vacation, holiday or sick pay exceeds your weekly benefit amount.

I would Google this in AZ.

I believe the law changed. That being said, if Hon doesn't challenge the claim you would receive it.

Per HR, if you volunteer and are selected, you will get unemployment.

If you volunteer in AZ I don't believe you can collect unemployment after the severance. You willingly left the company.
