Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Close The Clubs

I for one would prefer not to be at work right now. Sam's Club is a bulk store not like Walmart, Target. They should shut down for a couple weeks for their employees safety as well as the members safety. And no I have not been given the option of not working at my store. The only thing I've been told was that if they did lay off people and people would still get paid for their average amount of hours. I go to work and I go home for my safety as well as for my children's. But I would prefer to just stay home at least while all this is going on.

It's funny to look at all these comments now. I meant what I said back then! It's amusing to know that I got some people in a uproar for over it!!

I’ve been using this site enough to know that whoever wrote the BS is going through and downvoting everyone multiple times. What a troll.

It's funny that people are happy about the bonus money, which is nice dont get me wrong. But you cant spend money when you are laid up in the hospital fighting for your life, or you are dead. Workers are scared and it's only going to get worse. It is important that people get their needs met, but workers safety should also be prioritized as well. If workers are sick, or one associate gets sick, what do you think will happen to the club then?? Yep you guessed it, probably shut down. If workers are sick they can serve the people. Start taking action now Sam's and protect your workers. Because LOAs are a coming and a guarantee.

You work retail in a grocery store. If you want to stay home do so. Go get a job at kohl’s, TJMax if your so scared and just want time off and to stay home. The public depends on food stores staying open. Yes we are placing our selves at risk and the company is trying to protect us, 6 ft lines on floor for separation, gloves if you want to wear them, reduced hours so we can get stock that’s available out for sale, closing cafe, putting taste and tips to work cleaning. Making special shopping hours for seniors and high risk. I need a paycheck and will go to work, wash my hands often. Most members I encounter are appreciative of what we are doing, there’s always a few a–holes, but again this is retail. The medical field are the ones that are really suffering. That have to deal with know cases and are struggling to get the supplies needed.

I thought that families were not allowed only one family member to reduce how many people are in the club at once? The club I work at we have the whole family including the children and they are not 6 feet apart ontop of each other like every other time. Our break room is not clean! We are excepting returns and the membership desk has people ontop of our people.... safe ? hell no!! But I do believe it's too late to enforce the 6 foot rule when two weeks ago we had 100s in and out of the building for days so if someone that had it came in we all have been exposed. For those of you say just stay home say it like it's the easiest way out but we have bills. So have some passion for the fellow coworker that has aniexty over this whole mess we are in.

I can’t stress it enough..too many in one store at a time!!! Cashiers not only on top of each other at the registers but customers on top of them and touching all the stuff, id–ts still doing returns, people shopping like it’s a regular day, this is serious people!!! And anyone being sarcastic about it can take a hike! YOU are part of the problem, your attitude, and ignorance!! The company’s greed is gonna get us all

First, this is not the bubonic plague or the Spanish Flu of 1918. Second, it's okay for you to be worried and okay if you stay home for a couple of weeks. Third, you have no idea of the panic that it would create if even one chain of stores closed that sold food.
