Thread regarding Sam's Club layoffs

Walmart inc. Does not care about their employees!!!

I just watched a VP of Walmart say how disappointed he was because an employee felt like they had no choice but go into work or loose there paycheck and job. Well since you work from home most days that is easy to say. My District manager at Sam's club in Detroit area hasn't been in my club in weeks. Is he working from home in Illinois?
Your $300 extra pay is nothing if we get sick.
They have saved millions when they took our sick time away and made it impossible to use. I have several partners out with symptoms of the virus. The company will not let us use time we earned even to get paid.

There is no way your club is telling you not to wear gloves / mask. If so, report them!!

We shouldnt have to use our earned PTO or ppto to cover us for this. Way too many people inside the building at one time. What happens for people with kids. No sitters and schools are closed. Who gonna pay us. What should people do?

Has anyone else heard about a form that you can get from the store manager that you sign in order to be able to wear a mask to work?

When it comes down to it a $300.00 bonus for full time / $150 for part time and a early quarterly payout is not as Important as my own personal health and the health of my family.
I see exactly what all the big box retailers are doing by hiring new employees. It to replace the ones that get sick and can no longer work...

I am on self quarantine and am going back to work soon. I am scared to go back honestly....
I was planning on wearing gloves and a mask but was informed by management that it’s not a part of the dress code.
I am very concerned that Sam’s Club is not taking any kind of precautionary steps to protect their employees who are literally on the front line on a daily basis interacting with members

It is not that we don't have pto. It is we should be able to use our old time they took away. If I get this virus or I am exposed to it. It would only be from working. Why not workman comp even?

In my club your dedicated hard working associates have more than enough pto to cover themselves not working. The associates that like to blow there pto for no other reason then not feel like showing up all of a sudden don't have any and are p-ss-d. I find it amusing

The biggest thing this company has done to protect workers was to send us some stickers to put on the floor telling people to stay 6 feet away.

That's it.

There's been no "emergency cleaning crews" coming in to help clean. Nope - that's our short-handed responsibility. They've limited how much 99 supply sanitizer you can order (1 case per club per week), meaning that whole "We'll have sanitizer at every register" claim is b—s—. Bakery, Produce, and Deli are getting completely overwhelmed with product due to the fact no one wants to buy product that goes bad in a few days (Bakery/Produce) or still has a 1 per limit on it (Deli).

This company has completely mishandled the response to the sudden rush on the business 2 weeks ago and will now throw away half of the fresh inventory on hand because THEY panic-purchased. And we'll eat the loss and have it count against us. I think my club has something like 200+ pallets of water on hand at this point because they didn't lift the purchasing limit early enough. Still 3 more trucks of water this week too!

TLDR - we're given sc-aps and leftovers on the floor and told it's a 5 star meal as we pick out the maggots and dirt that covers it with a "Hope y'all don't get sick!" hand-wave from the ivory tower who are enjoying their 7 figure salary at one of their 3 homes.

Same here in CA.. they could care less about us. So concerned about us using our sick time than if any associate gets the virus. Technically we are having to stay home and care for our family members too which should allow us to use the "other" bucket they like to withhold from us. Just call out and apply for unemployment. Right now you can due to the virus and as long as there is a stay at home order you will get approved.

Disappointed my arse. If they would announce that anyone feeling unsafe can stay home and still get paid then they would see just how many people the6 would have working Thank goodness business has come to a crawl and not many people in the clubs shopping.

Same with the other side of Michigan .. the big wigs can work from home while us “essential” people have to be there day in and day out with all the greedy toilet paper hoarders. We have so many call ins daily... associates are afraid to come to work but have to cause they can’t use the sick time we have since the company changed the rules on how we can use them ! We can’t use them for when we are sick .. which is such bs ... many associates don’t have living parents or they are not married ... so, how else are they supposed to use them ! We know they won’t close us down since they are making money hand over fist ... over our sick bodies ! So ashamed of this company..

They know exactly what they are doing they know most associates do not have 2 weeks plus of PTO to burn for this and most associates live check to check so they are pretty much forcing most associates to work it is easy to hide in Bentonville and handle things over the phone. We cannot do that we are in hundreds of people's faces everyday the members do not care about social distancing there are associates in store's and clubs all over this country who are in fear everyday that they will take this home to there family but have no choice but to show up for work the executives of this company should be ashamed it is only a matter of time before a Walmart or Sams club associate pays for there greed.

I agree about the sick hours. Someone should call a news company and make it go viral on why they won’t let us use our sick hours at these desperate times.
