Remember "The Miracle on 34th Street"?
Macy*s is more than a group of stores that sell merchandise.
Remember going with your family to shop at Macys when we were all younger? People over time will come back to stores and Macys in particular.
When this is all over and it will be, Macy*s should redecorate for Christmas and celebrate for the next eight months until the next holiday season.
Families are spending a lot of time together these days. Continue to be with each other. Let's get back to basics. Macy*s will be there for you. Believe in miracles. After all, we are all kids at heart.
I don't work for Macy*s

I agree that it is time for Macy's to die – an 150 year old tortoise.

Macys already have 150 years. It may affect to extend it’s plan for back stages in next 5 years or hires new blood. Base on I work for Macys for so many years, I see the business is not run well by create special sales in 3 to 4 times in a year to be every couple days in a week. You can see how do the business. It is A time to step out from the box to think again of company by the board and HR. And worker should think about their future.

One must realize that this is uncharted waters. We do not know how long this will continue. Companies that are not strong will have extreme difficulties making it through. With no cash income no business can survive for an elongated period of time. Rents must be paid, utilities, debts due, payroll, taxes etc.
may sound like negativity but it is also realistic.
If our country does not wind up in a economic depression or recession it will be an act of mercy from God. People expecting to go back to work at the store must realize there is a very good chance that the store may not ever open. With this you must prepare yourself to survive which means look for employment. Find positions in areas that are necessary, that are better than where you were. For years Macy’s has been swimming against the tide and this wave, the virus, might be the one that brings it under.
Go back to school, learn a trade, try something new. Even the company realizes it will be long and slow to attempt a recovery and acknowledges some will not come back.
Be proactive in your own life don’t rely on someone to save you.

So much negativity on here. Yeah, this was a heavy blow, and yeah, things will probably be different once we reopen in a lot of stores. We may even, unfortunately, lose some colleagues permanently in some distressed locations. But we will reopen.

They told us they were giving us leave pay, and they did. I was told by my manager today that at least full-time people would be guaranteed hours at our location once we reopen.

Everyone knows the challenges we were facing before this. Macy’s is far from perfect and makes a lot of mistakes, but we aren’t the only ones trying to stay afloat right now. Companies and businesses around the world are just trying to survive.

Saying “RIP Macy’s” doesn’t really help matters. At all.

To All of the posters that seems to dwell on negativity...... STOP< STOP< STOP!!!!!! can you not look around and see the loss of lives and jobs!!!! This is affecting our whole world for gods sake. This is very frightening. I feel for all businesses small and large that are closing their doors. As for Macy's , they will make it through this. Smaller, but in a better position . To all furloughed employees, I feel for you too. My hunch is you will get your jobs back. Thank God the Government and States came through for all of you. Keep your chins up, you will make it through this! God Bless All...........

Thumbs down.

We'll be back. We'll be different, with less debt. Maybe less stores but we do many things very very, better thank anyone else.

We will be a rebirth.
